Giggle V Tickle in court August 4

Feminists in the UK seem to have an enormous amount of momentum in the UK - the wins keep coming. Here in Australia, things are moving very slowly. However, the Giggle v Tickle appeal is coming up on 4-7th August before a Federal Court panel. It will be livestreamed.

I will add the link below if anyone is up for some gardening it is much needed.

I am not close to the case, but there are some pleasing updates - the Lesbian Action Group has been given permission to intervene, and they have a very clever and well-versed in feminism legal team of Megan Blake and Leigh Howard. I wasn't particularly impressed with the legal arguments put forward in court in the first round, but there is a new SC (like a KC) on the team - don't know of him except he does work for the richest woman in Australia, so hopefully he knows how to make a good case too.

In other developments, Jillian Spencer, a psychiatrist in Queensland who was suspended for criticising pediatric gender medicine at her hospital is bringing several lawsuits, including discrimination on the grounds of belief. She is probably an excellent claimant for lawfare. And a convicted murderer in NSW applied to be moved from a male to a female prison, but the NSW government seems to be ruling that out despite having just brought in self-id and having allowed it before (maybe the sexual assault allegations that occurred previously would be more damaging if repeated in the current climate). It may have opened some eyes though.

A snigger in court in answer to a question costs money. We need to always remember that.

Retiredfromthere · 10/09/2026 09:12

Have this run out of road re fighting in courts?
The only option is law change?
I really really hope that Tickle's allies realise what they have done in standing up for/and by this man. He may have presented as underdog but this now means that he has shut down Giggle. This is very very bad precedent for women's rights.

ItsCoolForCats · 10/09/2026 09:44

Awful. Legislative change it is then, but what an uphill battle that will be.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/09/2026 09:51

Gutted. It’s not over though.

DuesToTheDirt · 10/09/2026 10:00

Oh FFS, what the hell is wrong with these people.

It really is, I think, unless the next election delivers (somehow) the political will and capacity to revise the law.

YourWiseBee · 10/09/2026 10:38

It’s a sad day for Australian women. You already knew you were not equal in law to men who says they are women, and it has now been confirmed.

sadly, I think you have got a long way to go to get the law changed. I hope it does become an election issue, but there is a long way to go to get the SDA updated - and mainstream media will fight as hard as they can to not make this a big issue.

i think the only hope is that they are shamed into changing the law , by other countries gradually giving women equality again. But Australia is as captured as Canada, maybe even more so.

AngleofRepose · 10/09/2026 10:48

Just horrendous. Every time I read about the state of women's rights in the US, Canada, Australia, or the EU, I am more grateful than ever that I live in the UK, even with all the problems that we still have here. You couldn't pay me enough to live anywhere else right now.

I think Sall said at one point that she expected this because it is what that insane law states... but maybe now the insanity has been laid fully bare and people properly realise that women now have no rights to congregate away from men to do anything at all, that'll be the necessary catalyst for law change. I hope. And I hope it happens before there's a slew of attacks and breaches now that every pervert Down Under knows he can't be stopped.

Biology is a wedge issue. This court result makes it clear that Australian women now have no rights to changing rooms, sports or anything else.

So it could lead to serious political drama in future elections. Then political debate is live and ongoing.

Labor and Greens refuse senate debate on biological sex laws
3 July, 2026
Two private senators’ bills seeking to restore biological sex definitions to Australia’s Sex Discrimination Act 1984 were prevented from proceeding to debate in the Senate this week after Labor and Greens senators voted against motions allowing the legislation to advance.

One Nation are going to benefit. They are already doing well.

Can't see anything in the Australian press about it yet, am I missing it? Or is it not deemed newsworthy?

Thanks both.

Apart from the two publications above there is nothing in the Mainstream Media. Most left leaning feminists would have no idea this is even happening.

NutellaEllaElla · 11/09/2026 06:27

Extremely disappointing

EdithStourton · 11/09/2026 06:30

FFS Australia.

Ractify · 12/09/2026 06:16

I really had to search for the story on multiple news sites here, and I knew what search terms to look for.

Another example of MSM hiding what doesn’t fit their narrative, and of pretzelising reality.

Vast numbers of the population here have no idea about GI, as all the media have simply refused to cover anything that wasn’t affirmation, stunning and brave…

Too right - we can’t rest on our laurels though as we’re a tiny island and there’s a massive risk that those countries will over time pull us back into that shit.
we all have a duty to help our sisters fight it elsewhere- is there an internationally focussed organisation we can support that advises all countries or would that be LGB Alliance advice on a case by case basis?
