Not being British, I didn't have Beatrix Potter books as a child, so I discovered her in adulthood and with fresh eyes. What a talented women - a brilliant writer, and a wonderful artists.

Without her inspiration, would our little furry friends be here at all? they certainly wouldn't be wearing natty little shirts and waistcoats

In two weeks Ill be spending at least eight weeks in a non-weight-bearing cast, so knitting might be all I can manage.

I've learned proper decreasing, so I made a bit of bunting yesterday.

I don't think I know how to decrease other than by knitting two stitches together.

You can slip two stitches onto the right needle, then put the left needle into the stitches, yarn over as a knit, then drop them off.

slip one, knit one, pass slipped stitch over- a bit like casting off.

I used ssk. It slants to the left, so I decreased first that way, then at the end of the row I did knit two together because it slants to the right.

I had wondered what was taking the gerbils so long, apart from the return to the house to pick up Gratin who was hiding in the hopes of staying with Maud.
