Compelled speech - Croydon pride

Cheeseandtomato72 · 15/07/2025 15:49

Croydon pride will only accept applications from stall vendors who agree to state they believe:

trans women are women. Trans men are men and non binary identities are valid.

vendor applicants need to ‘join in a public display of support’ affirming these principles.

This is discrimination against anyone who does not accept biological males as women. Total disregard for the Supreme Court judgment.

The following companies sponsor Croydon pride. I’ve added their complaints email. You know what to do Mumsnet 😉

Unilever - https://www.unilever.co.uk/contact/

superdrug [email protected]

London Southbank University - no complaints email for non students but you can call this number to find out who to report activity to tel:+44 (0)20 7815 7500 +44 (0)20 7815 7500

Remind us again which side wins their court cases for harrassment on the basis of their perfectly legal beliefs?

Just try to stop telling lies Chris, it really does neither you nor your argument any favours whatsoever.

As we all know, lies are all Chris, Bee and Aida have got.

I think Chris got a happy little shiver at being able to tell on Mumsnet. It seems to be a favourite pastime 🤷‍♀️🙄

Yep. Chris would be known as Bertie Smalls, where I grew up.

I'll give them a tip off so if any threats are received they'll know where to start the police investigation.

I hope that you gave your real details to MN, so that the Police can charge you with making a false report and wasting Police time!

Oh Christ! I’m Croydon based and I don’t like this at all. Incidentally I just left a book group in South Croydon as no one could get through a meet up without discussing anything about trans rights and what the author’s stance might be 🙄

Edited

Off topic but I would love to join a South Croydon book club! Please DM me if you managed to find one!

Yeah, females are going to threaten to bash up and rape them.

No, that's your side. Gaslighting and DARVO from you.

Remind me again which "side" need to grift almost daily because they got fired, charged or sued for harassment of gay or trans people?

Remind us again which 'side' wins their court judgements which then creates precedent and clarity around the law?

RantzNotBantz · 16/07/2025 11:39

SERIOUSLY… we need the evidence to quote.

At the moment any agency we approach will ask to see it and it seems to be no longer available on the website.

Without evidence Croydon Pride can deny it, and it sounds like gossip.

Irrespective of my views on the trans issue I am deeply concerned about democratic use of Croydon’s parks. But I am not risking raising a complaint without evidence.

@SinnerBoy - good point ! We should all being using this response to TRA madness and hyperbole going forward. Actually their often irrational response to any kind of disagreement / challenge / question is a waste of time and if they are wasting police time we should be following this up. Thanks for suggesting 👍

Hi I’ve got a screenshot but in terms of accessing the actual webpage it appears to be closed because the website application for stall vendors closed on 30/5. I’ve attached image here - thanks @RantzNotBantz

Blimey. So anyone having a stall there (not sure who that would be, but presumably some would be employers) has to be part of a press release affirming that AND CONDEMNING THOSE THAT OPPOSE? That sounds like tons more court cases waiting to happen!

AnSolas · 16/07/2025 13:28

Well fuckin 'ell "who they love" imagine number 2 poping up for Surrey Pride police participation.

Talk about tone deaf

Some people need to cop on and put limits on their demands.

And 3 shows why the police

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5342327-linzi-smith-is-granted-judicial-review-over-police-participation-in-pride

and big companies need to cop on.

Unilever has I will bet not signed off on their branding being used nor appointing some Random from Croydon Pride as their spokesperson and if non-Senior Officers staff did that is normally a misconduct issue.

"Gay rights" is an easy corporate flag no body needs to know who you are having sex with unless its a HR problem.

"Trans rights" like "disability rights" will cost actual money and time and reputation so will fall out of flavour. Add in the US is dumping the "look at what good capitalist we are" reporting needed for the Stock Market.

I expect purity spirals will only speed up the review of spending.

The Uni is regulated and one Uni has paid out a reduced fine for much less than what is being demanded

Linzi Smith is granted Judicial Review over police participation in Pride | Mumsnet

They might be lesbians who don’t want to be called transphobic for not sleeping with transwomen?

Or gay men who fancy male bodied people and identify as homosexuals rather than homogenderals?

For example?

They might just want to sell well made artisan pink cowboy hats much in demand by Croydon LBGT people who really want to buy them.

Yes I'm sorry, I was overtired and not thinking properly, I do understand what was meant now!

Absentmindedsmile · 16/07/2025 14:13

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 15/07/2025 23:08

Because once upon a time Pride was about people who are same sex attracted, not just about people who want to be the opposite sex.

Even then ‘trans women’ usually don’t really want be the opposite sex. They want to have the rights of the opposite sex, use their spaces and take their awards, scholarships etc. But they always want to keep their dick. Their dick is a very important part of their identity. We’re just not allowed to talk about it.

Best not to judge everyone by your own standards Chris.

Well said pencils

chris goes straight to threats and harassment

very telling….bit of projection there I think

and ive said it before and i’ll say it gain, if i honestly thought a fourm was that transphobic and homophobic? I wouldn’t be on it…🤷🏻

There'll be no threats. This is the Gender Critical side.

But hey run and tell them anyway. They might say something kind and affirming to you.

Defo!

None of you have ever been to Croydon Pride, none of you were ever going to go to Croydon Pride and nobody ever asked your opinion on Croydon Pride. This may be a public event but Croydon pride is an independent organisation and is allowed to make its own rules.

Croydon pride is, and has always been, trans inclusive.

LGBT people existed and built communities before it was legal, if you succeed in snuffing out all legal routes through your billionaire funded lawsuits then LGBT people will still continue to exist and will continue to build supportive communities like Croydon Pride.

Based on the notion that Trans rights are the only rights and that there's nothing wrong with a man wanting to follow women and girls into changing rooms?

I'm happy to remind you that it goes on a lot.

But we're putting a stop to all that nonsense now, thanks very much.

I've not looked into this in detail, but it's quite possibly illegal.

"is an independent organisation and is allowed to make its own rules"

Just like hotels/bars were once allowed to say "no Irish or blacks"

But not any more. Society raised the bar of decent behaviour and those cosily content with the old ways may be in for a shock.

And it's TQ+ not LGB anything.

Gay people were never like this. All they wanted was to be treated equally. They made no other demands and insisted on no compelled speech.
