Univ of Pennsylvania agrees to strip Lia Thomas of titles

Under an agreement reached on 1 June with the U.S. Dept of Education (DOE), the Univ of Pennsylvania has agreed to rescind swimmer Lia Thomas's wins and records, to prohibit transgender athletes from participating in women's athletics, and to restore the records and titles previously set by female U Penn swimmers.

U Penn has also agreed to issue personal letters of apology to all women athletes who were affected by Thomas's year-long participation on the women's swimming team.

The agreement will settle a DOE investigation into U Penn's violation of U.S. law against sex discrimination in education.

Get used to losing elections, then.

This is where we hear those responses such as from the Greens about 'we don't want any of your subhuman and befouled votes' - a classic lib left position of it's better to lose than to involve oneself with the less enlightened. It is about enforcing righteousness upon heathens for their own good, not about representation of an electorate.

It's one of the reasons why a Reform government is currently heading down the tracks towards us like a freight train.

I agree with you but they don't see it that way. I don't think most TRAs understand how different the male and female body are. They don't know about muscle insertions, twitch muscles, limb length, all of that -- to point it out to them is transphobic and bigoted lol

I agree. Most trans women seem to not understand women at all, only their, often pornified, ideas about women. Look at India Willoughby, who swears he has a cervix. Completely clueless about female anatomy, even though he fathered a child.

I think it's an extension of men being the default human and women being seen as just smaller, weaker men. It's why seat belts, many medications, and bus routes are made with men in mind. It works for men so they don't notice that many women struggle. I think most ppl don't realize how much the world caters to men and overlooks women. Invisible Women explores this very well. It's not surprising to me that trans women do the same.

Most I've talked to think something like "I'm much weaker than before I transitioned. Therefore I am just like a woman in this regard."They can't seem to understand that women are not just weaker men (or that they're still stronger than most women - they know one or two women who are stronger/faster/taller so they are just as much a woman as anyone.)

They also think "I can no longer compete with men so women should accommodate me". Most don't see how misogynistic it is to expect women to budge up to make room for them. They don't consider how that affects the women bc they're used to their male privilege and the expectation that women will (happily) be service animals for men. They don't see that, either.

I've mostly stopped talking to them about this bc they won't understand it bc they don't want to understand it, especially how very male they're acting in expecting women to accept less so that they can have more.

I listened to the rest is politics podcast the other day which was an extended interview with an American journalist (Ezra something?). He said that there has been trans overreach in areas like women's sport but the problem for the Democrats is that as Trump now dominates in this area, they can't back down no matter how ludicrous they sound. It really does make you want to give them a good slapping.

Ezra Klein, most likely. NYT opinion columnist, highly regarded. Very interesting, as he is generally liberal; clear-sighted about politics & economics.
