Welcome all, pull up a gerbil and make yourself comfortable!

Oh poor, poor little Gonorrhoea. (More tears than a certain chancellor)

Send her to the puffin burrow for consoling hugs with me and Rosy.

AsWithGlad · 02/07/2025 19:27

Oh, Gonhorrhea’s heart was in the right place, she just wanted to produce the very best squares for such an important project. I’m sure she will be consoled by restorative Puffin and Rosy hugs.

What wise and true words from Granny Gibb. No wonder our gerbils are such fine beings, mostly, with her to look up to.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/07/2025 19:33

That grey gerbil looks a bit too, um, feisty. I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her.

AsWithGlad · 02/07/2025 19:39

Is it the same gerbil as in the middle and right hand pictures, where she looks much calmer? Perhaps she realises she overreacted, or that she was observed.

Possibly, when she saw the purchased squares, grey gerbil also realised that her own long narrow strip of knitting will be hard to turn into a square, and that made her cross.

It's supposed to be.

Unfortunately the AI can't manage to keep the image quality when trying to produce the next scene of the story so it just gets worse and worse until you give up and start a completely new new request.

Saying that it at one point couldn't cope at all and would produce a completey different pub and gerbil on the second image!

Surely she’s not knitting a square, she’s making a tail warmer?

I’m sure if they sew the pre-made squares together it they can still be used for something other than a woolly hug. Colin wouldn’t say no to it for his basket.

AsWithGlad · 02/07/2025 20:02

A long narrow strip of knitting would be very useful for a blanket border, or indeed a tail warmer.

Lovely family group! I assume their brother Glaucoma is staying at the Staunch Ally?

Gon. and Gou. look nothing like their names suggest they might. They are very cute!

What about their cousin Gallstones and their half-sibling Gender-Dysphoria (although nobody mentions the half-sibling these days)?

That's because double barrelled first names are frightfully non-U, don't you know!

Unfortunately no one ever wants to invite their other cousin Gangrene to visit. Especially not for hugs.

Along with Grumbling, (conceived during an appendix flare up and no I have no idea if gerbils actually have appendixes) and Gravlax after food cravings caused their mum to eat her own body weight in salmon during the pregnancy.

And then the son that is the black sheep of the family, originally called Gavin, but gained the nickname Gaviscon due to his constant belching.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/07/2025 21:39

Small wonder these poor gerbils have the occasional spat. They must have had very damaged childhoods. Kittenhoods.

Magpiecomplex · 02/07/2025 21:40

Apparently gerbils don't have appendixes. Ours are clearly marvels of medicine!

You know depending on when someone lands on this thread would give them completely different ideas of what sort of thread it is!

Some days it's very intellectual,
some days it's all about holidays, or museums.
Some days it's about job interviews and operations
Some times it's just about the bloody weather
And then some days it's like today!!

How the AF do you know that gerbils don't have appendixes, Magpie??????
Encyclopaedic, or wha'?!😃

Tell whoever it is who called out 'APPENDICES!' from Pedantry Corner to take a chill pill😁

I asked Google! I must admit I did almost go with appendices... 😂

Lovely comment from the Swash's blanket thread:

I love that this blanket is shaping up to be such a mosaic of significance for Swash. I’ve done a few of these Woolly Hugs and this is the first that has ever had support rodents (if that’s the right way to refer to these wonderfully helpful gerbils?).

The poor loves are quite overcome. I've never seen them look so bashful.

Gangrene just needs a good bath and some fur dye. And maybe some dental work. But fortunately he's a boy, so the chaps over at the Staunch Ally can sort him out. I'm sure one of them will have a bottle of Grecian 2000 kicking about.
