It's a known thing that paedophile men pretend to be gay - it's a useful cover because they can claim homophobia and get support if they are accused of the classic smear against gay men, i.e. that they are all paedophiles.

I did wonder about the weird posting behaviour on two other threads. There seems to be considerable consternation about something. At least one of those posters seems to be a significant safeguarding risk.

Perhaps some journalist somewhere is busy joining dots?

I don't think Ireland and the many, many others are pretending to be gay.

For the sake of the children people need to vigilant. Thankfully the public are becoming more aware.

I went to school with Stephen Ireland. None of what has happened has surprised me.

There should be no sacred castes in society. No one is above suspicion and anyone who tries to persuade authorities that a particular person or group should not be seen as a risk because they are 'marginalised’ probably needs to be looked at even more closely.

He is a child sex offender who is sexually attracted to young boys and men.

There are many child sex offenders who are sexually attracted to young girls and women.

Others who are only sexuall attracted to children who will groom other adults and position themselves into relationships and positions of trust to gain access to a child.

It was his sexual attraction to (young ) children which is the problem and acting on that is the criminal offence.

Paedophiles can be from any sex/gender/whatever. Adults should be protecting children not forcing their views their views upon them. Too many groups have gained access to children for the purposes of education / supplying resources etc.

The DofE need to clamp down on this, adults rights to explain different sexuality etc does not trump a child’s right to protection and safety. It is far too easy, clearly, for these terrible evil people to access children. Stephen Ireland was hiding behind Pride and behind trans-activism to do terrible things to a twelve year old boy. How many more are doing the same?

Thank heavens the boy was brave enough to tell an adult who believed him and who acted upon it.

There are a couple of other threads around "Pride" where posters don't think that age appropriate exposure should be a thing.

Somebody who is as committed to abusing children as this man is clearly a paedophile, who obviously found pretending to be gay - i.e. only attracted to men - a useful cover.

Regarding Pride - it's been a long long time since it was Lesbian and Gay Pride, or even Gay Pride, it's now just Pride, and is about anything and everything.
It doesn't even claim to be about lesbians and gays any more, and is more about trans and 'queerness' than anything else.

Its the basics of consent.

Involving a child (or adult ) in ones sex life via exhibitionism is and always should be a taboo.

Ireland was sentenced for one count of rape, three counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault, conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child, arranging commission of a child sex offence, six counts of making indecent photographs of children, four counts of distributing indecent photographs of children, possession of prohibited images, and possession of an extreme pornographic image.
