Scottish Greens find a candidate more electorally suicide than Sparkles

Yup, Wadhwa is back!

Aiming to stand as a candidate on the Edinburgh list for the socttish parliament next year.

No explanation or mention of Edinburgh rape crisis, of course. Wadhwa is trans, so cannot possibly be expected to explain Wadhwa's actions with public money like any CEO would have to. No idea how anybody in the greens expects this to play out - maybe they are just hoping nobody will notice???

Not a single one of those candidates mention any of those issues.

I so wanted the Green Party to be the Green Party. I joined back in 2019 having been a Labour Party member but v disillusioned by lack of democracy and corruption in the party.
Then soon the gender woo began and I learned what the term "gender critical" meant as I had no idea, until the Greens started getting rid of anyone who wasn't into the woo.
If you're a trans ally and looking for a platform, they actually advise you to consider joining the Green Party.
What an absolute shambles. But this really takes the biscuit, letting Wadhwa stand as a candidate.
There's not enough swearing available to express my absolute disgust at these self-serving amoral assholes.

Boiledbeetle · 24/06/2025 17:43

They truly are scraping the barrel at this point.

NotMyRealAccount · 24/06/2025 17:47

You couldn't make it up.

Kinsters · 24/06/2025 16:55

So they've three transwomen and one actual woman on that list?!

Five males and two females.
Edited: six males

guinnessguzzler · 24/06/2025 17:58

I think letting MW stand really is a mistake. Although there are lots of voters who don't pay close attention to the candidate and will just vote for the party regardless, the Greens had previously made good progress locally by fielding sensible, well-respected, hard-working people. People like Robin Harper and Alison Johnstone (although I'm unsure now how sensible she is!). MW simply doesn't have the work ethic, sticking power or people skills, regardless of the issues. It is very sad because I think there was a time when the Greens recognised that they, perhaps unfairly, had to work extra hard to be taken seriously. I think it's fair to say they don't seem to worry about that anymore!

Mridul is a migrant, trans woman of colour, adoptive parent and carer.

So just your typical person that the Scottish electorate can identify with…….

My issue with him is more that he's a straight up liar (ERCC occupational requirement), that even the SNP weren't women hating enough for him during the Forensic Medical Examiners Services Bill and he presided over a culture at ERCC which caused rape survivors harm.

He's an absolute piece of shit.

Plasticwaste · 24/06/2025 18:27

That has actually shocked me, and not much shocks me these days!

This is deliberate provocation.

The Greens are a lost cause.

Putting this man forward as a candidate isn’t just doubling down, it’s a slap in the face to every woman who’s spoken up. It’s a clear, defiant message, a declaration of war, they're saying we’ve heard your concerns, and we’re ignoring them.
They're not just brushing aside women’s voices; they’re actively choosing to bulldoze over them. Once again, men’s wants are treated as non-negotiable, no matter the harm, no matter the cost, the environment doesn't get a look in.

I don't think we are even on their RADAR. There were a bunch of Scots Greens replying to one of the Fox Killer's posts on bluesky and they are so self-obsessed and self-regarding they honestly think that the electorate is just gagging for more candidates like this. It's why SG are going to whop the SNP and Labour in the polls. Apparently!

Ah well spotted! Yep, priorities all wrong clearly. They need to rename themselves the Scottish Trans party or something...

I can't believe they can be so deluded. The average person, if they even hear about this sort of thing, will be pushed to the right, while die hard leftists are politically homeless.

I've voted Green several times in the past, but this is the final nail in the coffin for me. Never again, even if they get sensible leaders in! The contempt they've shown for women is actually upsetting.

What in the name of God is the Rainbow Greens party?

A subset of the green party. Kind of like the candidates. Who are mostly subsets of men.

Yes. They're letting a man stand who was criticised for his treatment of rape survivors.

' failed to behave professionally '
'“did not understand the limits of her authority” and the needs of survivors were not prioritised.'
