I knew a John Smith. He was arrested for child abuse but died of cancer before it came to court.

@Beautifulcreatures2 that will be a matter for the authorities in their home cointry, which I believe is Ukraine.

The French authorities did this, as well as subjecting her to a medical examination, which may have added to her trauma.

Is it that in fact the man is only being held because of outstanding charges, and the family of the girl and friends who helped set this up aren't.

If it was play acting then it is very possible no crime has been committed on French soil since he didn't actually marry her.

He did violate a British order against him and that he can answer to.
