The mother was there to give her away.

If this is exactly what it sounds like, then what the hell is going on?! And good on Disney for calling the police

I’m hoping it’s a publicity stunt though cos it sounds like it

Ah so Brits aren't paedos. Only foreign men are paedos.

Sounds about right. That well-known French bloke Jimmy Saville was horrible wasn't he?

Nope Brits are paedos. its an issue, i didnt say it wasn't sweetie
given that its a crime and we know its wrong/illegal, I dont think Brits would flaunt their disgusting behaviours by booking out f'in Disneyland

Brits go to chicken farms in Thailand where they cannot be seen / caught

Creamcakes99 · 24/06/2025 13:02

SummerEve · 24/06/2025 12:27

Right…..so why couldn’t he be British?

because in British culture this is wrong and its illegal
so a British paedo nowadays operates under the radar (not by booking out Disneyland!!!)

BunnyLake · 24/06/2025 13:05

I’d round up every perv and throw them in the middle of the ocean as fish food if I had the power.

You have no idea, do you?

nessiethecat · 24/06/2025 12:36

But either way, where he’s from is not the big issue here.

The issue is the media are desperate to portray him as 'British', when his strange actions (I'm referring to the theme park fiasco) are far from typical British culture.

You being triggered?

You are either woefully ignorant or having some sort of very poor taste attempt at a joke. Many, many British men are sexually attracted to children, frequently break the law and do not care one bit about getting caught or “typical British culture”.

I’m not triggered in the slightest, just shocked at how clueless you are.

Why would this be a 'publicity stunt?' Who is to benefit from this 'publicity stunt?'

You read the story, the man is a known offender who was able to cross borders because England did not put him in prison.

Again - why would this be a 'publicity stunt?'

EarthaKittsVoice · 24/06/2025 13:17

Creamcakes99 · 24/06/2025 10:51

Authorities need to name and shame this man. He must be stupid. He is wanted by the police and he spends an epic amount of money of this sick viral stunt.
He doesn't sound very British to me.

Why doesn't He sound very British to you?

Do you have any idea of the amount of English men in the sex offenders register?

WitchOfSomorrostro · 24/06/2025 13:20

That's one of the more bizarre stories I've ever read. According to press, the 'groom' was in cahoots with the girl's Ukrainian mother and there were two Latvian 'friends' present (who knew from the start what's going on).

But all the 'guests' were hired extras. They've read the add, promising payment for attending the wedding. They presumed the wedding was of two adults and were shocked to see the 'bride' to be 9.

I don't get this, so what did the paedophile expect? That the hired guests will come and just clap at him for marrying a child? What about the Disney employees? Surely he realised the police will obviously be called and he'll be arrested. And he's a registered and wanted paedophile.

Doesn't matter if a 'real' British or from a culture where it's usual to marry kids, he still should have known it's illegal in France (and the rest of Europe). So odd.

Beowulfa · 24/06/2025 13:24

If this bizarro story is true, I hope the girl's mother has also been arrested.

I thought it was actually quite hard for non-nationals to get married in France (compared to other sunny holiday destinations)? Presumably the theme park just care about the booking deposit and don't check wedding licence paperwork.

meisafairy · 24/06/2025 13:30

Are you okay??
For real your responses on this thread are bizarre.

Anyhows I’m hoping it’s just a make a wish type scenario rather than something sinister once the full story is out.

TakeMe2Insanity · 24/06/2025 13:31

Normally in France people have to get legally married in the town hall, then the “wedding” happens somewhere else sometime with a religious person leading it or even your friend.

So from Disney’s angle someone booked if for a wedding nothing big. No issue as nothing legal happens. Obviously staff were shocked when the girl appeared as the bride. Then they called in the police and stopped it.

The whole thing is odd. If nothing else very attention seeking. But what did the mother think was going to happen to her daughter? My son is 9, I can’t imagine any of the girls in his class saying oh I want to be a bride. Madness.

MMBaranova · 24/06/2025 13:32

I'm with @WitchOfSomorrostro in what the expected outcome was. Assume that it wasn't shut down: it surely gets into the media, like it or not. Then what? Why?

TinkerbellStarbright · 24/06/2025 13:35

I think what some posters are trying to say, is that here in the UK it is known to be VERY WRONG to behave like this. So perhaps an English person wouldn’t be flaunting this in Disneyland.
whereas in other cultures and countries this is much more culturally and socially acceptable, so perhaps that’s why they wouldn’t see anything wrong doing this at Disney.

Soubriquet · 24/06/2025 13:37

Because why would a known paedophile get married at

a) an extremely popular resort
b) video tape it?!

I mean the child is 9 years old. He would know it was super illegal

Wow different level of perv

they re not getting more obvious, so less likely to be spotted as everyone is looking at dark web etc

Mirabai · 24/06/2025 13:59

Seems very odd to stage a stunt like this in a public place where you could get arrested, instead of say a back garden? And why spend all that money?

IwantToRetire · 23/06/2025 20:44

The newspaper story I read said it was a stunt. Or making a video or something.

Which I am hoping is true as not only is it horrendous to think anyone would be marrying off a 9 year old girl, or would be so stupid as to think they could do is publicly at somewhere like disney land.

What a horrible stunt. Even to suggest that a 9 year old is getting married…

I was assaulted when I was 15 by a family friend. He was British. Then raped when I was 16 by a British soldier. And have been assaulted since again by a British man. What’s your point with British actions?

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 24/06/2025 14:09

I find the mother in attendance more disturbing.

Fluffyholeysocks · 24/06/2025 14:14

I agree with others that find the whole stunt totally bewildering. The vast expense, the hiring of musicians and 'extras' - it's all so bizarre. What on earth did the mother of the child bride think was happening? It's totally bonkers - so much planning and expenses for what?
