I'll be honest: I used to absolutely love Stephen Fry. Really admire him.
But he seems to have changed.
What I admired was the fact he was gay was the least identifiable thing about him. He didn't ever really bring his sexuality into things.
Now, he seems to have jumped on the modern bandwagon and I think it's to his detriment.
I've read all of Stephen Fry's autobiographies and the 'smarmy' and 'obnoxious ' way he comes across is hides very deep rooted insecurity and self hatred - and I do believe him there.
But I don't like what I see as a hostile and patronising attitude towards women. He made a comment once upon a time (it was on the lines of finding vaginas pointless and disgusting in a sexual capacity)
Gay men don't fancy women or female bodies - I get that. But there's no need to mock or belittle or air repulsion at the female form. He may as well have said "women are pointless and silly"
He's not the only gay man that gives of those vibes : Elton John gives me those vibes too. I think some gay men really sneer at female sexuality.
