Hi all,

Just flagging this for any lesbian or bi women who’ve felt pushed out of Pride, or like something’s quietly disappeared.

We’re organising a lesbian and bisexual women-only march on Saturday 5th July in central London. It’s the same day as the main Pride event – but we’re not part of their route, and we’re not affiliated.

Time: 11.00 AM
Meeting point: Emmeline Pankhurst Statue, Victoria Tower Gardens South (by Parliament)
Route: Walk to Parliament Square for a few short speeches, then back to the park for a picnic (or a nearby pub if it rains)

No men. No brands. No pressure.
Just women. In public. Without compromise.

It’s fully self-funded. All permits, insurance, stewards and first aid are covered.

RSVP now
Click “Attend” – even if you’re only thinking of coming. It helps us plan and it shows other women that this space is real.
New faces always welcome.
Meetup

If you’re coming alone or feeling nervous, join our entry WhatsApp group – we’ll look after you:
chat.whatsapp.com/FCsLSOzgV4C2yUGplyQr5m
(This is our public group – open to everyone before vetting. The private WhatsApp spaces are strictly filtered. Only verified, registered women are added after screening. To move into those, register and complete sex verification here: thelcommunity.com)

If you want to understand the story behind why this is needed:

They didn’t make space for us. So we did.

In that case, 2/3 of them live in my house! Perhaps we should just invite the other one over here for some herbal tea and vegan snacks?

Your maths is not mathing as we have 2 of the 3 at OUR house. But we aren’t vegan or vegetarian so do we count even if we have vajayjays? I struggle with arithmetic.

There's no sign outside my local primary school saying "not for adults" - but everyone understands that they are for children and respects that. A lesbian march / picnic is just that . For lesbians.

Most people simply respect that. Clear language and respect for the rights of lesbians to organise lesbian only events.

What is it that's so complicated to understand?

I simply wondered if straight biological women could support their lesbian/bi friends. That's all.

Delphin · 16/06/2025 18:04

IButtleSir:
"No. Only lesbians and bisexual women. Straight women, this isn't about you either."

Looking at the way this thread is going, the straight women should go there to form a cordon sanitaire against the homophobes.

By turning up an event that is supposed to be just for them?

It doesn't say 'women only'. It is quite specific.

maltravers · 16/06/2025 18:07

I can remember dancing along at the back of a Pride march in the 90s to show my support. These were just floats of gay blokes and lesbians dancing to music and having fun, no dog men etc. I wouldn’t attach myself to a Lesbian event now (unless explicitly invited) as Lesbians need to be able to maintain their boundaries more than they need a demonstration of my goodwill (which they have fwiw).

So, no trans women?

I'll start arranging the anti transphobia counter protest, thanks for clarification!

Blimey.

So, under the EA2010 lesbians are allowed to exclude male people. In fact, the Supreme Court judgement labelled those male people as 'men' for the purpose of the Act.

And you are going to protest about these women's right to legally hold an event that excludes male people?

And you think that this will convince the public that male people should rightfully be allowed to access female single sex provisions and female people who are same sex attracted's provisions? I think you will find the opposite will be the outcome.

I responded to your comment to @IButtleSir who clarified at 17.19 that

"No. Only lesbians and bisexual women. Straight women, this isn't about you either."

You replied:
"Where does it say no straight women?"

So I gave an example of where we accept that our presence is not welcome or appropriate (adults in a primary school).

HTH.

There really is something about lesbians that gets the homophobic looney men rubbing their knees

how little self awareness they have (but that goes with declaring you’ve changed sex and expecting everyone to take you seriously I suppose)

IButtleSir · 16/06/2025 18:40

KeineBedeutung · 16/06/2025 17:41

Where does it say no straight women?

It's a lesbian pride march. In the same way that men cannot be women, straight women cannot be lesbians.

There's also this, if the fact that it was a lesbian pride march wasn't enough of a hint:

"Just flagging this for any lesbian or bi women who’ve felt pushed out of Pride, or like something’s quietly disappeared. We’re organising a lesbian and bisexual women-only march on Saturday 5th July in central London."

Every other straight woman on this thread has realised this march is not for them.

FiftynFooked · 16/06/2025 18:42

I’m straight and would proudly celebrate this event with my gay sisters but I won’t because they’ve asked that it be an exclusive event and I respect that. How about the trans-gang try the same? 🤨

Don't worry, our Maths is fine, it's the TRAs who have struggled with estimating the number of gender critical lesbians! You and your chicken drumsticks are welcome in the lesbian club!

JazzyJelly · 16/06/2025 18:56

Excellent idea, I hope you all have a lovely time!

The reaction that a lesbian and bisexual women-only march has drawn from a particular poster that a 'counter protest' should be organised should be considered what it is. Posts that are encouraging harm and are actually threatening in light of previous posting history.

Because this poster has in the past called violent and intimidating protest tactics 'peaceful'. And has dismissed violent acts as just being like 'comedy routines' and the like.

It is truly concerning to see a poster declaring that a 'peaceful' protest should be organised. Because that word 'peaceful', in light of that history, means anything but!

And that 'counter protest' would be an anti homosexuality protest.

The sheer act of women being homosexual together in public is apparently 'transphobic' and an intentional offense of provocation to men, requiring suppression and punishment.

This is the UK, incidentally. Not Iran or North Korea.

There are those in this lobby who are absolutely out of their minds.

The phrase "women only" really brings out the nutjobs, doesn't it? If men can't be included, they don't want it to happen, and will do anything to stop it.

Lovelyview · 16/06/2025 19:18

@AidaP @Christinapple Leave women alone you rapey homophobic arseholes.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/06/2025 19:21

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/06/2025 14:33

Just leave the lesbians and bi women alone. It very much sounds like you think women, especially women who love women, should be followed around and policed.

A good rule is that if it could have gone into the Handmaid's Tale or 1984, you're the baddie.

Spot on! I won't be attending because I'm not a lesbian or a bisexual woman, but I wish them very well.

LivelyFinch · 16/06/2025 19:27

These nutjobs would rather stop the lesbian women meeting up than go and enjoy their own parade which has excluded the aforementioned women. Afghanistan is calling!!

cranberryshortcake · 16/06/2025 19:30

The counter march to lesbians gathering for a lesbian event would be heterosexual women gathering for a heterosexual march.

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 16/06/2025 19:39

Beautifully put lovelyview 😀

i won’t be there as I am not a lesbian or bi but I hope you have a wonderful time 💐

part of me is worried that chris and aidap are planning something nasty…the other part of me thinks that those two have no friends or anyone that will speak to them anymore so couldn’t organise a meet up between the two of them let alone any sort of counter picnic protest

So im conflicted 🤔

IllustratedDictionaryOfTheDoldrums · 16/06/2025 19:44

I don't really have words for this thread. The homophobia and nastiness from a certain two posters is off the charts.
All the best to the women attending. I can't be there but I wish you all the best. Lesbians running an event for lesbians should be unremarkable.
Any man turning up to 'protest' that is doing nothing other than proving himself to be a homophobic creep.

INeedAPensieve · 16/06/2025 19:46

I saw the title of this thread and thought, oh great, I'll save it for later to read through and show my lesbian friends as I know they'd be interested in this.

Surprise surprise it's been derailed by the usual suspects.

The absolute brass neck of them!

Have a wonderful time ladies and hope the sun shines x

JuneJustRains · 16/06/2025 19:48

Here's a thought, for those who are local. Arrange as many female-only picnics as possible, all over London, that day. Confuse the hell out of the homophobes, who do seem to target lesbians even more than they target other women.
