NHS Policy Audit - working party -Thread #3

Original thread #1 here:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5291237-nhs-policy-audit-working-party?page=1
Thread #2:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5322494-nhs-policy-audit-working-party-thread-2

This is a thread about “keeping the receipts” on NHS Policies prior to the Supreme Court ruling on 16th April 2025.

Our working theory is that there were no single sex spaces for NHS Staff or Patients in the entire country before that date, having all been removed by stealth.

We are aiming to prove this by auditing websites and policies for all the UK trusts and using the results to raise public awareness.

As well as recording what has happened historically, the information will form a baseline so we can check which Trusts comply or defy the judgement in due course...

We are working around the country region by region. If you fancy getting involved in a bit of grassroots feminism then please do join in to help!?

Each trust takes about an hour to research and you can upload online without giving any personal details away. Comment below and we can give you the link to an online survey - it changes for each region.

Thanks soooo much to all the vipers who have helped so far and @twoloons for doing a great job with the thread wrangling!

Morning lovely vipers. So we are going to do the South West next. I will get the trust list sorted later this morning.

Cantunseeit · 26/06/2025 08:07

Brilliant! Thank you. I have a few busy days coming up but can get on with it from Sunday and will have plenty of time to do lots, if needed. Please allocate me some when the list is ready- I wouldn’t want all the good ones to go while I’m out and about 🤣

Fabulous thank you. In that case I award you Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. Thank you

Hi @FarriersGirl, I have submitted Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust so I'm ready for another one (if I am missing anything out please let me know) 😀

YellowRoom · 25/06/2025 21:14

Sorry wasn't at all clear that I'd got the Supreme Court quote because the Trust had run the Trans/NB event with Gender Aware - so I took a look at the Gender Aware website.

I’d assumed something like that, but thank you for the clarification. It’s pretty dire. Again, I do wonder if it counts as libel.

PrettyDamnCosmic · 26/06/2025 16:03

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 25/06/2025 17:43

I suppose if FWS tracked down every loon who accused them of being transphobes in the pocket of far right extremists they wouldn’t have time to make a cup of tea let alone campaign for women’s rights, but still, this seems pretty libellous to me…

I agree. IANAL but it looks pretty libellous to me. Perhaps the JKR fund for female court cases would be interested in supporting a libel case?

FarriersGirl · 26/06/2025 16:40

Nothing left to allocate from the SE. Hopefully you will be up for helping with the SW?

KnottyAuty · 26/06/2025 17:23

Thanks so much to everyone motoring through these! Amazing work 😍😎🙏🏻

Just a note of caution - at the moment the links you have are for the South East. Please do make sure to get a new link for the SW when you switch over.

Its easy to lose track because the links do t use English in the URL but the landing page should be clearly marked.

its not sure if you do use the wrong region’s link but it does mean we have to manually re-enter at the back which is a bit fiddly. So best avoided if possible.

thank you!!

Cantunseeit · 26/06/2025 19:18

KnottyAuty · 26/06/2025 19:27

I’ll pop the SW form link into arms tomorrow morning. Thanks!

I have had an answer from an English trust providing "Support for transgender
and non-binary people during the perinatal period - Information for service users", which is based on Brighton's policy. It fails to tell women that if they have had double mastectomies, they may have extreme pain from milk ducts producing milk with no outlet. It suggests they may be able to feed their babies if they retained their nipples and fails to spell out that there is no chance if the nipples were grafted. Serious ommissions.

The Welsh & Northern Irish FOI response rate has been poor. Some requessts were started several weeks late as messages were not received. This has never happened in the c400 other WDTK requests I have made to date.

Go figure....

The final five responses should come in next week.....

What a ghastly sounding policy!

Beyond the far greater funding and outsized influence that anti-transgender activists and organizations enjoy, this is where the rubber meets the road.

My irony meter!

Yet the stakes are different for us. It is our flesh, blood, and mind that are affected by this nightmare. Right now, we are just trying to survive in an increasingly desperate situation. For them, this work gives an opportunity for people to feel part of something and to feel a little bit like a hero, far beyond their normal lives. They do this with zero stakes. We do not have the time and nor do we have the distance to do this so dispassionately.

Hi I think you are new to this, if so welcome. We will get a link sent over the DM and this contains the instructions. I will then get a trust allocated for you to do.

Interesting POV.

Firstly that underlying assumption that mummies are useless despite all evidence to the contrary and the surprise which generated an article.

Secondly the complete lack of understanding that these policies are unlawful, sex discriminatory and that’s why they will be removed in due course. If they don’t accept that women have legal protection then they can’t afford themselves of protection either. The Equality Act protects everyone equally

Lastly that mumsnet is just a meeting space for like minded people. If we aren’t allowed to meet and discuss our issues are they prepared to forego their LGBTQ networks and groups? (To be clear I don’t think they should)

Anyone know what sort of circulation this might get?
