NHS Policy Audit - working party -Thread #3

Original thread #1 here:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5291237-nhs-policy-audit-working-party?page=1
Thread #2:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5322494-nhs-policy-audit-working-party-thread-2

This is a thread about “keeping the receipts” on NHS Policies prior to the Supreme Court ruling on 16th April 2025.

Our working theory is that there were no single sex spaces for NHS Staff or Patients in the entire country before that date, having all been removed by stealth.

We are aiming to prove this by auditing websites and policies for all the UK trusts and using the results to raise public awareness.

As well as recording what has happened historically, the information will form a baseline so we can check which Trusts comply or defy the judgement in due course...

We are working around the country region by region. If you fancy getting involved in a bit of grassroots feminism then please do join in to help!?

Each trust takes about an hour to research and you can upload online without giving any personal details away. Comment below and we can give you the link to an online survey - it changes for each region.

Thanks soooo much to all the vipers who have helped so far and @twoloons for doing a great job with the thread wrangling!

Thank you both, very wise words! xx

There would be a pleasing irony if the BBC itself could be persuaded to do an exposé (based on the excellent work done on here) of the illegal trans policies of just about every NHS trust in the country, as penance for its previous sins. Perhaps Panorama would be the appropriate choice.

Gagagardener · 12/11/2025 08:34

Who on Mumsnet has the ideas or connections to set that ball rolling? If we can keep this thread bumped, someone may see it and do something...

With perhaps Hannah Barnes or Debs Cohen as lead presenter?

Hello! Long time no posts - sorry for the radio silence.

Half a dozen auditors crunched the numbers on England and we have tried to get some press - unfortunately it is a busy time for news so we haven't had much take up. Hopefully that might change with the Peggie and Darlington judgments due soon...

Anyway we are looking for a permanent home for the data and for a way to make it accessible to people via a map on a website. To do this we will need to track down Latitude and Longitude for all the Trusts - which means doing another trawl on the audit trail... anyone here up for a bit more googling for map coordinates?!

Other ideas for using the data also being investigated but nothing firm to report yet...

Happy to help in December(I worked on the audit under an earlier username).

KnottyAuty · 20/11/2025 15:40

Brilliant - thanks so much!
We will sort out the list of info required and be back in touch
Some of it will involve wayback and archive links but should be a lot less raking around than last time!

Well done. My jaw hit the floor reading this:

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust says “there are exceptions in the Equality Act, where the trust can apply the Equality Act differently”.

Who wrote this stuff and who signed it off?

Harassedevictee · 24/12/2025 19:38

Well done to all of you. Happy Christmas.

YellowRoom · 24/12/2025 21:12

That is my all time favourite quote from the whole audit

I agree - but that statement encapsulates the entire ideology so well

That’s a fantastic Christmas present! Well done @KnottyAutyand @FarriersGirland all who helped.
chip chip chip chip chip. Keep going Vipers!

FarriersGirl · 25/12/2025 07:25

Merry Christmas Vipers - really good to see a report on the whole project. As @KnottyAuty says there is still more being done in the background. If the last few months have taught me anything it is that we are going to have to be really tenacious to push back on GI. Fortunately that is a quality we seem to have in spades.

Awesome Christmas present for us all! I just hope the timing doesn't affect readership - but if it's the first blast with more to come that's a fitting gift for the Ermine Vipers 😄

Blackmetallic · 25/12/2025 10:38

That's made my Christmas! Well done to everyone!
