He was going to ban skirts.

Parental feedback was not sought initially, but they've had plenty of it since the change was announced!

My opinion. Police the children effectively if they're not wearing it properly. Don't punish the girls who are following the rules.

Whilst I get we should wear what we want etc the skirts at schools near me are awful. You can see their pants. It is not appropriate attire but as teachers we can’t do anything. Male teachers get accused of being pervs and female teachers are accused of being anti feminist etc. Our school did a survey about uniform. A significant number of girls cited peer pressure as being a problem. They didn’t want to roll their skirts but peer pressure means they do. I look back at photos from my school days in the early 90’s- the fashion was for really long skirts. When I started teaching about 25 years ago girls wore tight pencil skirts but nothing like as short as now. I’ve given up telling girls to sort their skirt out as so many have had their skirt actually altered their parents clearly don’t care.
