MNHQ: "We’ll also no longer use a rigid three strikes system" - Who would you want to be able to post on FWR again?

On this thread there have been a number of posts from MNHQ, one of which contains this statement. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5342469-just-checking-since-the-sc-there-is-no-such-thing-as-misgendering-on-mumsnet-or-is-there

It is only a 2 page thread, and the first post (in blue on my screen) is at the end of the 1st page with more on page 2.

Just thought some might like to suggest who has been lost and missed because of an earlier strict regime!

Smile

just checking - since the SC there is no such thing as misgendering on Mumsnet? Or is there?? | Mumsnet

Just checking we can refer to TIM as he now? I think so... The deeply admirable Helen Joyce does and I share her rationale... Goes all the way back t...

I agree. It was an important piece that I still refer to occasionally.

I would also like to nominate LangCleg’s posts about safeguarding and coercive control to be reinstated. She was so right.

This.. pretty please

Is MN going to put Feminism and Feminism Sex back together again? - that was possibly the dumbest move MN has ever made.

Wasn't it done because there was complaining that FWR stuff had "overrun" the main feminism board? And we'd get that complaining again if the two were put back together?

it was all the poor posters who were unable to start threads about important feministy stuff so they asked MNHQ to split the boards so that they could start very important and insightful threads

didnt bloody happen mind…i am more than happy to say that some of those complaining posters were doing it for what they thought were good reasons but the vast majority haven’t ever been seen on the new board

It has always delighted me that the “main” board safe space for lib fems is tumbleweeds compared to Sex and Gender.

Do you remember the Mumsnet mole? When a TRA infiltrated Mumsnet (or claimed to have done) and was threatening to dox people. Or did I dream that? I wonder what happened.

That was an intern who I understood was a relative of a staff member. They accessed personal details of posters and doxxed them. They got away with it with no repercussions at all as far as I recall.

Ramblingnamechanger · 05/06/2025 23:28

What happened to I am Spartacus? I can’t remember if that was a name or a thread title. Is she still here I wonder?

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 06/06/2025 00:08

@porridgecake- blimey!

Dusting off this old - transiently topical - username to say I’d be delighted to see LangCleg make a triumphant return, in the manner of a parade on an open-top bus! MaryZ too. (There will be others but those two names sprang into my head.) Oh, and the woman who used to post the Rules of Misogyny!

Emma the Intern? Got a job in government iirc.

WeetabixBananaHipsterFFS · 06/06/2025 01:02

Might’ve been CS.

IwantToRetire · 06/06/2025 02:06

If there was an easy and safe way to do it, it would be great to have a sort of archive of best comments.

I dont mean in a feminist fanzine way, but recognising posts that actually helped all of us understand or learn a little bit more. Or have a laugh.

Or we could go all anarcho collective style, where nobody has a name and all quotes are attributed to the hive mind of FWR.

For anyone who has the time, as it brings up lots of results, this brings up posts by LangCleg https://www.mumsnet.com/search/advanced#/?username=LangCleg&type=all&topics=&page=1&sort=_search

What like when a certain TRA suggested Sturdy Pyjamas to ward off rapists when putting boys in with girls on a girl guiding trip?

Or when people argued that a child rapist and murderer of the Soham Girls would 100% be a woman if he just changed his name to the mother of one of the girls?

That was TheBewilderness. The rules are available (with slight variations/additions) in various places in the web now.

And quite a few threads that are on there are ‘S&G’ topics.

porridgecake · 06/06/2025 09:17

There was a a whole row over a misunderstanding around "moderators" and "monitors". I can't remember which poster it was who was explaining that posts were being reported by "TRA monitors" and that "moderators" were being in fact being manipulated into deleting posts. It was perfectly clear to MNers what was going on, but the poster was banned anyway.

CarefulN0w · 06/06/2025 13:53

I think that was Lang, porridge. She was completely right to point out that the mods were being coercively controlled - but it got her a ban.
