It’s been a while since I last saw everyone!

Welcome to everyone, regulars, lurkers, newly ventured in.

A place for women to discuss whatever takes their fancy, where the bar staff are attentive gerbils, Rosy the Red Panda is available for cuddles and all sweet things have no calories and all alcohol leaves the drinker slightly merry and hangover-free.

The Bluestocking Women's Pub, where brains can exist in a single state | Mumsnet

Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nons...

That is a truly wonderful and selfless gesture, Boily.

Are you feeling quite all right?

The teacake I have been given is nibbled around the edges.

Ahh, I wondered where that one went.

MyrtleLion · 19/05/2025 21:31

It’s not proper sharing, Boily, if you’re passing off your out of date and pre-nibbled teacakes.

Frankly I’m surprised that any of the teacakes even get close to their Best Before dates.

@FuzzyPuffling I like to crack the top and suck the contents out….

@Boiledbeetle psst don't mention the snowballs as that is a matter of a committee vote

FuzzyPuffling · 19/05/2025 21:35

It's a good thing I don't like Tunnocks. I'm off for a French Fancy.
I've got some in my PuffinBurrow.

They ended up at the back of the stock during a previous thread move.

I blame Gertrude who is supposed to be responsible for hidden Tunnocks stock rotation. She has finally admitted she doesn't know the months or even the years.

But she does know when it's Gravy browser Wednesday in the staff canteen as they get to climb in to dip the bread in the left over gravy.

Alas there is no image of this as Co Pilot is currently stuck in a can't create that image loop. I may have to switch my phone off and on again.

And now my phone is updating its operating system!

So plenty of Time for me to go empty the bins, wash the dishes, do a load of washing, make a cup of tea....

MyrtleLion · 19/05/2025 21:51

I just found this still from the CCTV in the training room. I’m not surprised they’re finding it hard to learn the months…

The gerbils have found 2 cases of Navy rum so that those who wish to can raise a glass to Swashy's son, Swashy's daughter and Swashy herself.

In love.

Thanks to another thread I've acquired a hamster that's been hanging out with the Lords and Ladies of the Supreme Court. Anyway, she's had her head turned. She's got a judge's wig and robe from somewhere. I don't think she'll last except in the Bluestocking's unreality field. She might be useful adjudicating if there are any more disputes. She has her own gavel. She's called Nibbles.

Sorry. Lady Nibbles.

You only managed to get one of the Supreme Court hamsters? I take it Lord Leggatt ran awaySmile

She’s found a spot in Justice Corner. With her name on the wall and everything. It’s like she’s always been here.

It should stop any squabbling between the gerbils, though.

I wanted to keep Lady Black of Derwent, she was proper useful. But the supermarket said I either returned to whole of the Supreme Court or I kept all of it. I couldn't split it. Often the case with multibuys.

Snowballs are the only Tunnocks that we who are gluten-free can eat, I think.
Do I need to lob one at lobby the committee?

SOS - Save Our Snowballs

Alternatively, do we have a goodly supply of Tablet-flavoured popcorn in stock? It’s a mere 705kcal per bag, or, in the Bluestocking, 0kcal.

DH transported a bag back from Scotland last week but has eaten most of it himself. He brought me ‘ordinary’ tablet, which is also good.

Which reminds me, last month I was offered home-made Irn Bru tablet, made by a lovely person with a Scottish sounding first name. Not odd, as she is from Scotland. I prefer her usual tablet, though.

lcakethereforeIam · 19/05/2025 22:35

I worked with someone who wanted to call her baby after a Scottish Island. I think she went with Lewis in the end not Muck.

My granny's (Granny McBoiled) coconut tablet was the most amazing thing I have ever eaten. But alas, I didn't pay attention when she made it, so have spent years unsuccessfully trying to replicate the taste and texture. What I end up with is still delicious but not like granny used to make.

Tunnocks whisky! They're missing a trick there. It should definitely be a thing.
