It’s been a while since I last saw everyone!

Welcome to everyone, regulars, lurkers, newly ventured in.

A place for women to discuss whatever takes their fancy, where the bar staff are attentive gerbils, Rosy the Red Panda is available for cuddles and all sweet things have no calories and all alcohol leaves the drinker slightly merry and hangover-free.

Previous thread is here:

The Bluestocking Women's Pub, where brains can exist in a single state | Mumsnet

Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nons...

Mung beans!

JanesLittleGirl · 28/05/2025 17:39

Hi there. Please may I have a serious G&T and a conversation with a moose, a magpie, a puffin, an hedgehog, a beetle, a slice of cake, a lioness and any other unusual customers in here? I have just been catching up on another thread: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5342041-the-words-that-have-been-pulled-over-your-eyes?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=app_share
and I need something to bring me back to reality.

The words that have been pulled over your eyes | Mumsnet

^I initially wrote this as a reply to a thread in relationships, but rather than derail the thread I decided to post it in FWR as a thread in its own...

Magpiecomplex · 28/05/2025 17:43

Certainly modom. Would modom prefer the serious G&T or the very frivolous one?

I rather like the look of the frivolous G&T -if there’s one going spare, please.

Magpiecomplex · 28/05/2025 17:49

Sure, I'll get Gabrielle to rustle one up for you!

Gabrielle has been removed from the staff rota and Gertrude will be serving instead this evening

Oh Gabrielle... I'm not angry, just disappointed...

lcakethereforeIam · 28/05/2025 17:59

I'll have a frivolous g&t. It'll probably count toward my 5 a day.

The pygmy hogs have 'fessed up to blocking the loos. They've been taking turns to climb in and flush them. As a safety measureHmm they jammed a fresh bog roll in first. When that loo overflowed they continued their game in the next one.

They seem very contrite.

Magpiecomplex · 28/05/2025 18:03

The pygmy hogs bear a more-than-passing resemblance to my students, you know.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/05/2025 18:10

Gabrielle looks like my kind of creature!

FuzzyPuffling · 28/05/2025 18:15

Tottering in with a small puffin-wave. Had a migraine yesterday so am recovering today.
I'm enjoying the gerbil- antics though.

Good news from Wales, @FuzzyPuffling.

Full disclosure, I know Pembrokeshire well. Which is why I find this so amusing - it's from one of Jasper Fforde's books.

I just saw this on the news. Well done puffins!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/05/2025 20:39

I would like a nice soothing half of beer.
afternoon mostly spent with DH at the eye hospital. One eye a bit better, the other a bit worse and we don’t seem much closer to finding the cause and hence longer term treatment. So we’re a bit in limbo still. More tests await him.

Igneococcus · 28/05/2025 20:40

Do we have tech-gerbils on duty?
I haven't been able to get to the "Am I naive..." thread since the middle of the afternoon, I get "Bad Gateway" on all my devices when I try to open it. I see it's now full but I'd quite like to have a quick skim-read. All other threads are fine, just this one. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Also, could I have a fancy G&T with all available garnishes please?

@ErrolTheDragon, would you like your beer serious or frivolous?

Igneococcus · 28/05/2025 20:54

Perfect, thanks @Magpiecomplex makes a nice change to all the Aperol Spritzes I had in France last week.

Igneococcus · 28/05/2025 20:56

And with perfect timing, my YT playlist started playing The Unthanks' Magpie, spooky.

FuzzyPuffling · 28/05/2025 20:59

There were 5 magpies on the roof of my house earlier, making an unholy racket. Can you ask your relatives to pipe down please Magpie?

Turbochook · 28/05/2025 21:01

<Pokes nose tentatively round door>

May I come in? I was going to add an incisive and intelligent contribution to another thread, but I've had a truly horrible day and even being coherent seems like a lot of effort. Besides, since I first noticed said thread, it's got waaay long and seems to have descended into a pointless ding dong.

What I would like is a small glass of one of those very floral dessert wines and for a kind gerbil to find the last Fri or Sat Graun crossword set by Vlad, print it out and bring it to my table with a pen.

Not feeling chatty, but a cosy women's pub is exactly where I'd like to be right now. IRL the washing up beckons and then I shall give up on today and retreat to bed…

P.S. Black-eye and field beans. Field bean flowers have the most amazing perfume. Also ful medames.

Magpiecomplex · 28/05/2025 21:02

I'll try, Fuzzy, but I can't guarantee they'll listen to me!

DeanElderberry · 28/05/2025 21:04

hello @Turbochook , way too long and pointless ding dong seems a bit of a theme at the moment. I'm sure a gerbil will be along soon with your order.
