The Child went out a bit late, so we were obliged to shelter under roofs, firstly of a church, then of a pub. So sad. Still, about 60 people enjoyed several hours of a damp summer evening swapping historical anecdotes and tracing family connections - "yes Jane, you're named after your grand-aunt, but your great-grandmother Jane was actually named after my grand-uncles' cousins' wife's mother Jane, who was born in 1832, so . . . ."
I may have the connections wrong, but that was the date he took us back to, without any reference to books.
It is possible some of them are still in the pub and have moved on from the official tea and coffee to other refreshments.
