I haven’t listened yet, and can’t find a thread about it from today 🧐

Anyway, looking forward to hearing Sex Matters later this week.

I think it might have been deleted?

TracyCruz · 12/05/2025 12:18

There was a thread, but it got deleted. I don't quite understand why.

JasmineAllen · 12/05/2025 12:18

There was another thread discussing RMW on it this morning. It's been taken down, presumably because RMW didn't like it.

As a result I'll post the response I was in the middle of making here:

RMW made some good points about body dysmorphia and I have every sympathy with anyone with a debilitating mental illness but the way RMW came across in their deep, obviously male voice justifying 3rd spaces for women who don't want to share with TW was both ludicrous and a really obvious own goal.

The whole interview made it quite obvious it was all about validation at the expense of women's and children's dignity and safety.

And don't even get me started on the whole boys going into toilets with their mums thing. What on earth was RMW thinking. They couldn't have sounded less in touch with women if they'd tried !???

RMW has both the male voice and the entitled attitude to match.

Toseland · 12/05/2025 12:18

It's been deleted.

It was. I was just reading it and it vanished before my eyes.
No idea why.

dubaichocolate · 12/05/2025 12:19

Yes it was deleted. Do we know who of Sex Matters will be on the programme? I feel I need to prepare myself if the BBC will actually be letting Helen Joyce on the airwaves.

MassiveWordSalad · 12/05/2025 12:19

Oh really. How odd!

HesSoBadHesGood · 12/05/2025 12:19

There was a many page thread that was deleted not long ago. I only got to page two and then zaaap! so don't know what was discussed really.

Sorry, triple or quadruple posted

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 12/05/2025 12:19

Yes there was a thread but it was deleted.

I guess RMW got their massive frilly knickers in a twist over it. 🤭🤭

Toseland · 12/05/2025 12:22

A woman would know at up to which age it is acceptable to have boys in women's toilets. Woman's Hour both guest and presenter didn't seem to know!

Do we know who else will be in apart from RMW and SM?

Yes there’s quite a difference between a little boy below the age of say, eight, and a grown man, isn’t there?

I disagree. If he is allowed to go on the fucking radio and spout shit, we should be allowed to discuss the things he's saying.

MassiveWordSalad · 12/05/2025 12:27

Well, we’ll see how long this one lasts.

I don’t know who else is supposed to be on, but a lot of high-profile GC people are working very hard at the moment, so maybe that’s why they’ve not had an appropriate woman on yet.

In most sports and leisure centres it is 8 years old, which if I recall aligns with the school requirements for changing and toilet facilities.

I read a bit of the deleted thread. There were some personal remarks that RMW likely objected to. Plus, someone posted the link to Naomi Cunningham’s review of RMW’s book. 😬 It’s a shame the whole thread was deleted because posters’ reactions as they listened live were interesting.

Keeptoiletssafe · 12/05/2025 12:27

Interesting. At least Robin will have seen my points.

HesSoBadHesGood · 12/05/2025 12:28

I didn't listen on purpose (for my mental health) and was relying on the courage of other posters to listen for me, to examine the points, so I could listen later.

I went to do some gardening, came back during a break and hey-ho, that help has been deleted out of existence :(

ValerieDoonican · 12/05/2025 12:28

Guessing the deletion might have been because of some remarks about RMW's appearance and/or motivations. Which could perhaps have been construed as disobliging 🤷

I think they lost Helen Joyce's number, didn't they?

Keeptoiletssafe · 12/05/2025 12:30

Presumably Robin is watching this one too so perhaps come on and debate?

ValerieDoonican · 12/05/2025 12:31

Great shame - it was a good thread. I especially enjoyed the reactions to RMW's suggestion that women who didn't want to share spaces like loos with TIM could be offered a "third space" that was single sex. The man's a genius!!

Horticula · 12/05/2025 12:32

Absolutely this. I have no idea why that thread was deleted, I was reading it, it was no different to any other thread about anyone else that puts themselves into the public eye. But I was also on another another thread a few weeks ago discussing transwomen which was deleted. It's almost as if mumsnet doesn't want us, the majority of whom are actually women, to discuss transwomen.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/05/2025 12:32

I may have missed something but it looks as if the arguments that the SC judgement are wrong appear to rest on 1. the fact that mothers sometimes take their young sons into women's toilets so middle aged men must be allowed to use them as well? Oh and 2. that women's toilets are for women and certain men. Women who object for pre allowed reasons like religion, abuse etc may be provided with separate single sex toilets ?

Tbh, if that's the extent of the legal insight into this, I think women and decent men can rest easy that the SC is not going to be overturned by whining men.

ValerieDoonican · 12/05/2025 12:33

Oh and if "misgendering" is not allowed today please just delete my post and not the whole thread. TIA.
