Do you think he was right to say shut up to a woman fighting for her rights? Even if you disagree with her stance, surely she should be able to participate and not just “shut up”?

I didn’t mention her colour. I’m asking if it’s acceptable for a man to tell a woman to shut up for talking about her rights, even if he disagrees with her point of view.

I feel kinda sorry to her to be honest - I followed her for a while on insta but it was all so focussed on him and her being his plus one - rather than her as an individual.

No not you but it was in the post about him telling her to shut up and some of us couldn't see why her colour was brought into it.

I wouldn't say she's disappeared exactly, but I find it hard to think of anything she's been in since marrying DT that isn't DT or Doctor Who centric.

He told her to shut up because she was speaking up for women’s rights. That tells you everything about the man.

Her colour is relevant because white people have historically had, and continue to have, power over Black people. A white man telling a Black woman to shut up is enacting that power.

She was speaking as a woman, nothing to do with her colour. Laughing at the power of an actor against the leader of the Conservative party.

Hooray, racism is over because a black woman is successful! White people no longer have systematic advantages over black people, TheighnT has sorted it!

Of course he has power. He has male privilege and white privilege, and also the privilege of being a celebrity with a high public profile who has been given a platform. The fact that Badenoch is leader of a political party doesn't alter that.

Plus she wasn't actually Tory party leader at the time.

It does mean she isn't some powerless person against his vast power.

Grow up. The implication that telling the leader of a powerful political party to shut up is somehow worse than telling a powerless woman regardless of colour is pathetic. No woman should be told to shut up, equal for them all, if you don't believe that then shame on you.

It's still not a good look for a White man to be telling a Black woman to ' shut up' in public, and have all the clapping seals rattling their jewellery in approval around him. To not even engage with the debate is dismissive in the extreme. Also see him telling women to ' get out of the way' and let trans people do what they want without any pushback.

Oh God was she only a minister in His Majesty's government? Oh yes totally powerless.

It isn't a good look for any man to be doing that to any woman. This has nothing to do with colour unless someone wants to do a bit of virtue signalling.

Wonder if he's going to win his BAFTA.

Be that as it may, he's like a lot of self-consciously right-on men. Probably imagines he's a great ally to women, but that's belied by the anger you see when he encounters a woman who says no.

Do you not know what he said about Kemi? That if he had his way she wouldn't exist. Have a think about that for a moment. All because she defended womens rights. He has also attacked JK and wants her to shut up about feminism.

This is NOT about 'different views', this is about his vile hateful and aggressive misogyny and the way he speaks to women. @mrstrickland
