Just fancied a bit of relaxation. Put on Antiques Roadshow, up pops RMW, there's no escape!

OP posts:

Sadly, the tale of the gallant Sgt. White was lost amongst the WTFs from the VE day visitors who had settled down to watch it here.

They were even more WTF that I was able to give them chapter and verse on the gravel voiced one, and why.

I still find it impressive that so many people stayed quiet about the work they were doing/did at Bletchley.

Naomi Cunningham's mother was at Bletchley Park wasn't she. I remember NC said she wished she was able to talk to her about it.

My granny was, and we only found out at her funeral from her brother. even her son, my dad, didn't know. They took the official secrets act very seriously.

Which is a shame as I would have found her a lot more interesting.

I thought it was him. I was in the kitchen, dp said 'isn't that a man', I stuck my head round, and said 'oh, it's RMW! The one I kept mentioning from the court cases'.

'Ah, that wazzock' was the response. He does listen sometimes.

It was interesting though.

I do love the word "wazzock". It's so...fitting.

He’s popped up on this board in the past I think. Nasty man.

He has indeed popped in occasionally to scold us. However, I believe he's not been seen in these parts since he - IIRC - came to berate us for bundle-related criticism regarding a case he was involved in.

In the interests of wildlife conservation, I am trying to re introduce the lesser spotted wazzock back into the English language.

I can't remember if it was here, or somewhere else I posted it, but more or less snap. We only found out when the priest spoke about it; they'd been friends for about 40 years.

Odd moment, wasn't it. I remember sitting in the front row of the church at the funeral, and our heads all snapped up from a bowed position at once. It was almost funny.

murasaki · 04/05/2025 23:13

And I guess priests were probably exempt from the official secrets act rules via confession!

Anyone got a link to the thread?

They did make the point that the weapon had been, erm, deactivated.

I think this might end up being a very underappreciated post.

I’ll try pepper my language with it from this day forth

The whole way he imparted the information about his relative screamed male.

Wasn't it Gruey's favourite thing to say? 1980s BBC kid show

Hey ho, I expect the whole thread will be gone by tomorrow. Grin It's going to be a chilly Bank Holiday Monday and those complaints don't make themselves.

I wondered that later, not having thought to ask.

As an aside to ArabellaScott's question regarding valuation:
Very little, he's not old enough and very obvious a poor quality fake.

JamieCannister · 05/05/2025 07:05

One thing I have noticed about trans'women' like RMW, is how brave they are in smashing the gender stereotypes associated with their gender. We all know that men are allowed to love trucks AND Jane Austen, women are allowed to love needlework AND boxing, but it is good when the trans community set a fine example.

RMW, for example, from what he posts online, seems to be very interested in steam trains, and he seems to drive round in a classic car visiting train related places. Now we add in military history, and we can clearly see him smashing at least three gender-stereotypes. In contrast I have no evidence he live life as a stereotype of his gender - no evidence he knits or sews or spends half his life dedicated to caring for an elderly relative.

I don't know who it is, but I saw another post on social media where a man was talking about his TW friend and what a lot he did for the local community, including being the Chair of the local Campaign for Real Ale branch. Again, we all know plenty of women love a pint of real ale, but the stereotype is that it is more of a man's thing, yet this TW is smashing the stereotype.

I seem to remember his last appearance here was a little while after the bundles, when it was pointed out to him that posting on the thread of a claimant in a pending case¹ to, in effect, say 'We're watching you' was - at best - unprofessional.

¹ In which I think he is representing the other side.

bringonyourwreckingball · 05/05/2025 10:13

RMW is also prone to a bit of mansplaining. We once had a lengthy ‘discussion’ about make up being an attribute of sex but how that didn’t mean that me mainly not wearing it made me a bloke because…something

TWETMIRF · 05/05/2025 10:22

Yes I don't think I've seen him here since he was advised that posting on a thread of someone he's representing the other side for in an upcoming court case was 'unwise'.

For someone who works in law, he has a tenuous grasp of it. He wrote a book which was so inaccurate that it's best used for wiping your arse.

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 05/05/2025 10:30

Ahhhh, I did have AR on, mainly listening. I looked up during that piece and it was quite jarring that the voice did not match/suit the speaker. Interesting about his relative, though.

Lark1ane · 05/05/2025 12:11

See, all I got from the story of the relative was that it wasn't any old Nazi Luger, it was in fact a Very Special Gun.

It was the very Essence of A Gun.

Then the ack ack sound of WTF started from the older members of the family.

SabrinaThwaite · 05/05/2025 12:26

It probably wasn’t a Luger at all. It just identified as a Luger. And a deactivated one at that.

Then we have joys like the screenshot below from

well worth a read of the whole thread.

And apologies for the many deletions of my posts in that thread. It remains my most deleted posts in one thread ever!! Can't think who might have been constantly pressing the report button on my posts!

Last post was February last year according to :
