I will be asking Aberdeen City Council for their clarification on this.

It's that nutbar from the other day, (who only seems to have one skirt), he is on public record of boasting about how he was going to break the law, any chance he'll get arrested now.

The council have plenty of genuine issues to deal with, and could really do within using resources on dealing with questions about who was or wasn’t allowed to use any particular toilet at a particular time.

I’m pretty sure I’ve used the gents in the town house during a dancing event that was 90% women and everyone took a pragmatic approach to managing queues.

Please do. Councils are not above the law and underfunding is no excuse to flout it.

If they didn't want the shit show that's descending on them then they shouldn't have given the man express permission to use the women's toilets.

I was out dancing with my boyfriend years ago and ran into this same exact issue.
There were 9000 women lined up to use the ladies and zero men using the men’s.
I went back and got my rather husky boyfriend to stand guard at the door, and used the men’s.
I recall hearing him say, “Sorry man, it’s my girlfriend.” lol
It took me all of 2 or 3 minutes.
What do women DO in the ladies that takes them SO LONG that the line backs up?

I said as a council service user and tax payer I don’t want anyone triggering any more time spent on this topic.

If you’re a user of the town house and it’s an issue to you then fair enough. If not, kindly don’t impose your campaign agenda on things paid for by others.

If you want the actual answer - it’s open cubicle door, turn round, lock cubicle door, place handbag somewhere sensible, take pants and lower garments fully down, sit down, do their business, wipe dry and then redress and then wash hands.

If you have an issue that your council did something so fundamentally stupid it made Twitter and is going to take time and money to sort their response then maybe you should be having words yourself with your council about the things they do that end up costing them more in the long run.

How much would it have cost for this man to have been told no he couldn't use the women's toilets? 60 seconds of someone's hourly pay rate!

The money spent by councils isn't just the money they raise in council tax, they also get funding from the government, which is collected from all tax payers. Everyone can have a say, about any level of government in any part of the country.

A previous poster has already covered the basics, so all that, plus dealing with periods - unwrap new towel/tampon, remove used one, wrap & dispose of it, apply new towel/tampon, clean up if needed. No it's not all women all the time, but it's never men, so yes, on average women will take longer.

Also, my pet peeve is in really busy toilets when I've been super quick & am done before the cistern has re-filled from the previous person, so I'm waiting in the cubicle to flush the toilet before leaving. Again, not a problem for men's toilets where the urinals are used for a quick wee.

Excuse me - I'm Aberdonian and I ruddy well did write to the Lord Provost about this. A disgrace - I've asked for clarification too.

If this has been allowed, then the Council itself is to blame for wasting resources. The law is clear. I hope for the Lord Provost's sake that this is untrue.

I think we are going to see more of these attention-seeking forays into the women's - or the disabled - toilet by men who have no right to be there.

It still took me 2 or 3 minutes to do all of that and wash my hands thoroughly.
I’m not a mirror primper.
I don’t linger in the bathroom when I know there are women desperately needing to use it.
It shouldn’t take any able-bodied woman 10 minutes or longer to use the bathroom unless they have urinary or bowel issues.
And I’m speaking as someone with a disability.
Malingerers are out there.
Perhaps the answer is and the answer has always been more women’s bathrooms & stalls.

Yes, whenever this nonsense about us taking longer than men comes up I just try to go straight to the FACT that we NEED the "three Ps" - men don't.
A pot, paper and privacy.
Because of that, we're bound to take longer (quite aside from other "problems"), so provoking queues.
So if a man dares to complain that I've used a "male" toilet yet won't let him use ours, I point out - seriously - that I NEEDED to because of the queue, he never needs to because there is never a queue for the Gents!
As Americans would say,
END OF!!

Instead of Aberdeen council wasting time on this ,How about ridding Aberdeen city centre of the Anti social behaviour that start up at 9.30 am onwards in the St.Nicholas area.
