Absolutely. you can almost see the sweat breaking out on their upper lip as they bang on about it

yup, ignoring the rather more obvious male skeleton, gait, shoulder to hip ratio. Immediately obvious. Immediately you can see they're not female. And hear it too once they open their mouth.

It's so tedious. Men who refuse to accept women are actual human beings and in some ways - recognition of sex being one - are evolutionarily hardwired differently. For good reason as it turns out.

thenoisiesttermagant · 26/04/2025 13:48

Gosh, a bold move to advertise your company wants to break the law so publicly.

I can't see many families with children wanting to go there now, given they're ok with the Katie Dolatowskis of the world going in the loos with their tween / teen daughters.

thenoisiesttermagant · 26/04/2025 13:52

The argument about 'but I pass' is so hilarious.

This is a male person who thinks he's female.

So when he says he 'passes' why would we think he's any less delusional about that? Already shown to have a tenuous relationship with reality.

(I'm not talking about transsexuals here who know what sex they are and are fully aware they are presenting according to sex role stereotypes for the opposite sex).

It's funny how most men who say they want to be women don't see women as actual human beings with their own thoughts and perceptions.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/04/2025 13:53

A potential weak point of this judgement and guidance is (I think) that it doesn't define "biological sex".

Many TRAs seem to think that biological sex is a matter of self-identification too and I have seen both TW and TM state that they are biological women / men who through a defect of birth were born in the wrong body, or those who think that hormones determine sex etc.

I don't know how you deal with these delusions other than hoping that social pressure returns to keep people in the correct sex places where required?

sleepypea · 26/04/2025 13:54

@thenoisiesttermagant Quite agree, there is no way I'd be taking my daughters into a place with such blatantly misogynist policies.

Not sure if any of you follow Glinner’s substack or Ripx4nutmeg but this made me laugh… in the if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry kind of way.

They forgot the - I’m a special case; hear my life story and sympathise/grant permission pretty please - one

As I saw on here once: they identify as us, but never with us.

ExpressCheckout · 26/04/2025 13:55

@CautiousLurker01 It may simply be that they be offered the disabled loo, or in the case of very small buildings/businesses ... they may have to adapt their 1-2 toilets into fully enclosed, single use facilities.

Agree, but that's the rub, too, isn't it? Small businesses, particularly hospitality, are already in a terrible state at the moment with the triple whammy of business rates, Labour's employer NI tax raid and the increase in the minimum wage. Perhaps Stonewall and the BBC would like to contribute? Gary Linaker is leaving Match of the Day, so the Beeb will have a few million quid going spare. As for Stonewall ...

@CautiousLurker01 Stonewall’s offices for example…

Ha ha 😂yep! I do wonder where their funding is going to come from now, given their vampirish gaslighting of various organisations over the last decade or so. Years ago, Stonewall did do some great work around LGB rights, but something clearly went badly wrong. I don't think they'll survive without a different business model, and they've already lost a lot of natural LGB allies who won't come back to them.

Well I hope my employers are looking at this. They were very quick, post SC judgment, to issue a statement about their commitment to and solidarity with trans colleagues blah blah (no mention of women of course)

I would send it to them if I were you and if I wasn't comfortable doing it in my name I'd create an email address to send send it.

murasaki · 26/04/2025 13:57

I'm surprised at Wetherspoons, given Mr Martin's views on most things.

I imagine students account for a fair bit of their profits.

LonginesPrime · 26/04/2025 14:00

That was tweeted yesterday before the EHRC guidance came out, though.

sleepypea · 26/04/2025 14:03

@LonginesPrime Let us hope they revise that policy in light of the update then!

EweSurname · 26/04/2025 13:15

I’m questioning the purpose of a GRC and the apparent confusion in the law. What is the purpose of being able to change your sex on official documents if it (quite rightly) does not give you access to opposite sex single sex spaces, hospital wards etc?

It seems unnecessary to be able to change your legal sex marker if it doesn’t change your actual rights with regards to sex, but then also makes it difficult for service providers to manage as a small minority of trans people could present official ID to say they had access to spaces etc. I just can’t see what the point of a GRC is any more. I’m definitely not saying that the SC outcome is wrong!

We were told it was just for admin purposes. It allowed a man to marry another man at a time that gay marriage was thought to be unpalatable to the lawmakers.

I don’t understand how this will work in practice for trans people who blend in well. I have a trans woman friend who blends in flawlessly (I was shocked when she told me) Some trans people don’t pass and I understand why they make other women uncomfortable.

I feel heartbroken for her right now. Is she really meant to use the blokes when she had navigated life as a woman for years?

Navigated life by illegally ignoring girls & women's boundaries and protections?

ArabellaScott · 26/04/2025 14:09

The game is over.

Men can no longer pretend to be women and expect society to accept it.

Nor are women obliged to solve a problem that was created by men who wanted access to women's spaces.

If women having rights makes you unhappy, then that's your problem.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 26/04/2025 14:13

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/04/2025 12:54

That sounds like a winning legal strategy!

I think that under GDPR it might be illegal for HR to store that data without the GC person's consent. Both "political opinion" and "religious and philosophical belief" are "special category" data that get extra GDPR protection. I cannot foresee even condition F justifying an employer storing data about the political opinions and philosophical beliefs of employees, because any legal defence will be based on the lawfulness of the employer's policies and whether they followed them, not on the beliefs or even conduct of individual staff.

I'd announce a boycott but I am already boycotting Spoons because of its owner's contribution towards the act of national financial self-harm that was Brexit.

Yes, I think it will be quite difficult for all pubs, etc to suddenly declare that all their facilities are now mixed sex without facing a massive backlash, not least as this will affect men too.

Wetherspoons is an interesting one, as I’m sure many women will be put off of going if they know they’ll be forced to share toilets with drunk men.

My friend has done nothing wrong and I think it’s wrong to paint all of them with the same brush. She is furthest from the insane self-id TRAs you can get and hates what those people are doing. She got properly diagnosed and has even had reassignment surgery.

I wish I knew how to post a GIF, I’d post the one of Alan Partridge shrugging his shoulders.
