Kemi Badenoch v Kier Starmer at PMQs 23/4/25: Starmer won't apologise to women.

I haven't seen another thread on this, so hope it's ok to start one. Kemi Badenoch v Kier Starmer at PMQs. Starmer can get to fuck, the weasel. Does he realise how foolish he sounds? All he does is attack her on matters irrelevant to the issue at hand, so he doesn't have to answer a simple question. (Apologies for the GB news link to those who find them unpalatable.)

Let him or her who is without sin cast the first stone.

Kemi Badenoch was Minister for Equalities for nearly two years. If the government whom she was a part of had actually addressed this and engaged with the Scottish SNP led administration, the court case would have been completely unnecessary.

Trans identifying men are not women and never were, in law or in fact. That the major Scottish party wasn't able to grasp this meant that there was no other choice but to take the matter to court. 10-15 years of eroding women's rights led to the Supreme Court ruling. No amount of "engagement" would have helped. Women continually tried to engage, and were excluded from every conversation about their own rights, both within and without Parliament, and vilified for even asking to be included.

He's so offensive. Soundbites and refuses to apologise to the living hell he put Rosie Duffield through, prefers to go on about politics and Tories plus Reform. No apologies to the women abused as a result of his inaction. Refuses to condemn the attacks on Baroness F. Doesn't criticise his own MPs mischaracterising the SC judgement and stoking up irrational fear which is unfair to both women and transpeople. Doesn't mention the death threats against women in recent trans protests and seems disinclined to force the police to take action against actual death threats. Two tier Kier indeed.

Kemi B listened to Kiera Bell when civil servants tried to stop her, she put forward the gender questioning children safeguarding guidance. Which Labour have sat on. She's not perfect but she's done more for women and child safeguarding that KS ever has.

Floisme · 23/04/2025 14:55

I agree that no mainstream party comes out well from this debacle. Right now, I can’t envisage ever trusting any of them again.

However, I don’t recall anyone in the Conservative Party being treated like Rosie Duffield was for dissenting from the party line. I don’t think Labour are doing themselves any favours by refusing to acknowledge this

To be fair to Badenoch (and I am certainly no fan of the Tories, or in fact, most of her other policy stances), she has been consistently good on this personally, seems to have tried everything in her power and has largely been shouted down and smeared by the various TRA factions among MPs and in the "liberal" press (The Guardian's John Crace was a particularly obsessive offender here)

She was one of the few ministers to actually meet with Keira Bell, for example.

I imagine that's why, despite their political differences, Rosie Duffield is standing up for her, as Kemi did with her in the face of the appalling treatment Rosie was experiencing within the Labour party with zero help or even acknowledgement from her own leader.

Yes, an arrogant fool.

An arrogant, lying fool.

All he does is bully and sneer nonsense at PMQs and avoid answering every question.

Hope he feels the repercussions in votes.

KB pushed for biological sex in the Act. Do you recall what Starmer said to that? He probably doesn’t either.

Here you go

A timeline of Starmer's views:
2020: Self-ID and trans women are women
2021: 'Only women have a cervix' is something that should not be said
2022: Vast majority of women don’t have a penis
2023: 99% of women don’t have a penis
2024: Only women have a cervix and a woman is an adult female but making “jokes” about a political leader who doesn’t know the definition of woman is an “anti-trans” joke
2024: The law doesn’t need to be clarified as it’s already clear
2025: A woman is an adult female and I welcome the Supreme Court for giving clarity and now the law is clear

Kemi has been consistent on pushing for this. It’s Labour and their acolytes who worked against her.

A glorious cutaway to Rosie Duffield in case it wasn’t in the clip posted.

He's an arse. And to think that I was glad when Labour won the election.

myplace · 23/04/2025 17:07

Kemi issued several ‘clarifications’ or statements about it (possibly education related?). She certainly didn’t sit idly.

Who commissioned the Cass report?

dubaichocolate · 23/04/2025 17:08

Sajid David.

Imnobody4 · 23/04/2025 17:20

Kemi also supported Kishwer Falkner when there were spurious complaints about her.

She also held out against the Conversion Bill.

NoFineBalance · 23/04/2025 17:22

Kemi absolutely did not sit idly by. She was steadfast in her belief in biological reality and women's safety, and put up with all kinds of lies about her and put downs in the Women and Equalities Select Committee, often from people on her own side, like the odious Caroline Nokes.

They did, as in blocking SNP legislation regarding the trans issue and self-ID, thus bringing down Sturgeon

Oblomov25 · 23/04/2025 17:30

I had high hopes for KS pre being made leader. What a wet blanket he is. What a prick.

SugarPlumFairyCakes · 23/04/2025 17:37

That clip has made me so angry! What an absolute fecking spineless, coward that man is! As a life long socialist I cannot believe that his twisted, distorted sound bites and absolute refusal to owe his actions and words. Kemi is far more believable and truthful. FFS just acknowledge you were wrong Keir. He is not just opening the door for Reform in this area, he is actively welcoming them in!

DragonRunor · 23/04/2025 17:39

As an aside, I enjoyed CN being in speaker’s chair for Bridget Phillipson’s statement yesterday.

He is still calling it, “The debate”.

Floisme · 23/04/2025 18:05

I think he’s missed an opportunity. An admission that he’d got things wrong plus an apology would have been very disarming. Even now I don’t think it’s too late to do it, although the longer he leaves it, the harder it’s going to be. Maybe Wes Streeting could give him some tips.
