Kemi Badenoch v Kier Starmer at PMQs 23/4/25: Starmer won't apologise to women.

I haven't seen another thread on this, so hope it's ok to start one. Kemi Badenoch v Kier Starmer at PMQs. Starmer can get to fuck, the weasel. Does he realise how foolish he sounds? All he does is attack her on matters irrelevant to the issue at hand, so he doesn't have to answer a simple question. (Apologies for the GB news link to those who find them unpalatable.)

Rosie Duffield really does deserve a public apology and I wouldn't mind seeing pressure applied until she gets one.

A glorious cutaway to Rosie Duffield in case it wasn’t in the clip posted.

Absolutely brilliant.

Rosie nails it!

SionnachRuadh · 23/04/2025 18:20

One of the few good things Starmer ever did was to welcome Luciana Berger back, to show things had moved on from Corbyn.

It would be good for whoever succeeds this cockwomble to make the same offer to Rosie.

That’s moving on from Corbyn though. Maybe the next Labour leader could do to show they’ve moved on from Starmer.

SionnachRuadh · 23/04/2025 18:24

That's what I meant!

Ha you did! I read too quickly.

He is a cockwomble for sure

PatsFruitCake · 23/04/2025 18:28

Christ, Starmer is an absolute dipshit. What an appalling performance. He didn't address the matter in hand and was barley coherent. Kemi came across as articulate and focused.

He's a fucking weasel.

Floisme · 23/04/2025 18:05

I think he’s missed an opportunity. An admission that he’d got things wrong plus an apology would have been very disarming. Even now I don’t think it’s too late to do it, although the longer he leaves it, the harder it’s going to be. Maybe Wes Streeting could give him some tips.

I agree with this. But i dont think his ego would allow it. Plus, hes not a good public speaker and doesnt come across as warm or genuine, so it would be impossibile for him to hit the right note.

He has too many other policies not working at the moment to risk fiddling about with the GRA and EqA, so he should just make it clear he was wrong about this, and focus on trying to get sonething right.

If he had anything about him, he’d be apologising and begging her to come back to the party as well as an offer of a ministerial position re: equalities.

But he won’t. He just wants all this to go away and for us all to forget his cowardice.

Maybe we need elephant broaches as well as dinosaur ones….

Surely, that would be the smart political play. But he won't do it. Cos he's scared of whom it might upset. Spineless.

Kemi Badenoch is such an impressive orator. She absolutely wipes the floor with him, and I picked up a strong whiff of misogyny in his silly comment about 'I bet that sounded better when she practiced it in the mirror earlier'.

God he’s repugnant. Why does he always sound so misogynistic. Is it a white, male thing too.

thenoisiesttermagant · 23/04/2025 14:51

He's so offensive. Soundbites and refuses to apologise to the living hell he put Rosie Duffield through, prefers to go on about politics and Tories plus Reform. No apologies to the women abused as a result of his inaction. Refuses to condemn the attacks on Baroness F. Doesn't criticise his own MPs mischaracterising the SC judgement and stoking up irrational fear which is unfair to both women and transpeople. Doesn't mention the death threats against women in recent trans protests and seems disinclined to force the police to take action against actual death threats. Two tier Kier indeed.

Kemi B listened to Kiera Bell when civil servants tried to stop her, she put forward the gender questioning children safeguarding guidance. Which Labour have sat on. She's not perfect but she's done more for women and child safeguarding that KS ever has.

Yes I feel this way. I never doubted KB was GC even when she wasn’t making great strides, does anyone remember her leaked WhatsApp messages? Saying TWAM. This was a good 5 years ago ish I think. She’s definitely on our side.

Agree 100%, and not just disarming, really powerful. People might start to respect him.

He's such a coward - an arrogant coward.

Shortshriftandlethal · 23/04/2025 19:38

The expressions on the faces of Yvetter Cooper and Angela Raynor were a picture......Starmer is in a real bind...as is the Labour Party, and they know it.

Agree. I thought it was his comment (that KB had practiced in the mirror earlier) that fell flat and appeared to be a pre-prepared sound bite that conceivably he'd practiced earlier. She's so much more natural and compelling a speaker. It's like listening to nails on a chalkboard listening to him. Very unpleasant.

SionnachRuadh · 23/04/2025 20:12

Kemi has her hits and misses but get her on this subject, where she knows the detail, knows what she believes and hasn't been swayed from her position, that's when you see her at her best.

PatsFruitCake · 23/04/2025 20:23

I very rarely listen to Starmer as he makes me nod off so I didn't realise quite how bad he is at public speaking. I was struggling to understand what he was saying.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 23/04/2025 20:30

He doesn't have a clue how he comes over about all this does he? When he was beclowning himself with all the cervix and 1 % of women have a penis stuff along with the bullying of Rosie D it seemed incredible that nobody was able to point out what a dyed in the wool misogynist he sounded.
Watched his embarrassing display on Sky news and a Tory MP was pointing out that his constant foot in mouth performances guaranteed that this won't go away for him. He's comedy gold for interviewers.

I thought that too. They looked uncomfortable and didn't join in with the jeering.

The thing is, there is no need to try and gaslight us. I fail to see what the value is for them.

If it's for their TA base, they won't be happy about portraying TAism as a bad thing that the Tories have all the responsibility for.
If it's for the wider public, anyone who cares about this knows they are lying.
The only sector this washes with are the tribal loyalists. Who are going to support Labour anyway.

It's most gaslight-y of all to Rosie Duffield, and all the women of LWD and Lesbian Labour after what their party put them through. That's unforgivable.
In their position, I might grudgingly - being realistic - accept that an apology would never be forthcoming but to see KS actively pretending that there was nothing to apologise for is just the limit.

GCAcademic · 23/04/2025 22:15

Imagine time travelling from 20 years ago and watching that exchange. You'd assume without question that the feminist Black woman would be the Labour leader and the white male misogynist the Tory. It's mental.

WarriorN · 23/04/2025 22:18

He definitely didn’t treat Rosie with dignity and respect. Utter twat

Good point. Difficult to believe the Labour party truly cares about treating everyone with dignity and respect when they can't muster up the most basic show of respect towards RD. Two faced weasels.

loveyouradvice · 23/04/2025 22:29

Truly outrageous ... and leaving the space wide open for Wes Streeting to win lots of brownie points with the general public when he moves things forward with the Darlington nurses... Not only is he a natural orator, it will sound authentic from him, knowing what he has done so far...

Looking forward to seeing what he says - I'm sure as a potential PM in waiting he'll have a plan!! And I am more than happy for him to make political capital out of it, given that it also resonates with his actual views
