I don't post much on here anymore but just wanted to take a moment today to thank Mumsnet @MNHQ and Justine in particular for standing strong over a considerable number of years.

I fully appreciate that not all Mumsnet members or employees held the same beliefs but in the fury of doxing, banning, and insults, MNHQ held the line to enable this space where women were able to have a discussion.

I know the arguments and concerns over the years but the fact is that this was the only public space for a considerable number of years where a conversation was allowed about what came to be known as gender critical concerns.

This was where women came to gather, to discuss, to learn, to be heard, to form new spaces, to support and to stand strong. It wasn't always a pleasant place to be but it was always a place that was allowed to exist. It stood against the pressure groups, the hate, the doxxing, the pressure of advertisers, Stonewall law and it did so by simply being allowed to exist. The women on here and in the wider world did the rest. It's easy to forget just how difficult it was for MNHQ to hold the line especially when being attacked by all sides.

Thank you.

[What have Ocado done?]

I am both proud and sad that FWR is pretty much the only forum that hasn’t buckled to all the bullying and threats; well done! I found it quite by chance during Bailey v GCC and Stonewall.

Onwards Vipers. Rejoice that you’ve graduated from being called racist nazi bigots to being Trump supporters!

Bloody Ocado? A few months ago?

Ocado

Who the bloody hell do they think keeps them in business???

It's extraordinary. Who managed to convince those spineless fuckers that ignoring millions and millions of women and their basic, really basic rights, was in their interests?

i'm really glad Justine told us that.

A newspaper called yesterday's decision, seismic. And it really is.

The door to the right side of history is gonna get pretty busy, my guess is that some grovelling is on its way

Bloody Ocado! I can't get over it.

YES! who do they think their customers are? Also Marks & Spencer with their changing room policies.

Bobblebottle · 17/04/2025 14:58

I want to add my thanks to Justine and the women of FWR, including those no longer here. I'm incredibly grateful for all of you. I genuinely don't think we would be where we are without mumsnet.

HarpQuartet · 17/04/2025 15:06

I'm another who rarely posts but has been educated by FWR, thank you.

Yes, in fact, almost anyone who considers advertising here, is doing so because we are their customers. It's foot shooting.

But I suppose Ocado got me more, because people will buy from them every week. Every bloody week!

Did they learn nothing from Budweiser!!

ScribblingPixie · 17/04/2025 15:14

I agree, and I have appreciated it very, very much. To have it acknowledged in the Supreme Court that Mumsnet brought together the women who have achieved this moment must be very gratifying.

MrsPeterHarris · 17/04/2025 15:22

Thank you @JustineMumsnet, your post has once again brought tears to my eyes on this topic! Massive well done to you & your team xx

ScribblingPixie · 17/04/2025 16:22

Ocado? FFS! They have been pestering me for a while, offering me more and more money to go back to using them. Well, they can get in the bin.

Slave2thekitty · 17/04/2025 16:30

I'm adding my voice to the chorus of thanks to @JustineMumsnet and @MNHQ for allowing women to have a space to talk to each other. I initially came to Mumsnet for The Litter Tray; I stayed for the feminism. You vipers have guided me, reminded me I'm not alone; pointed me to gardening site; helped me write letters and made me laugh. Yesterday I danced around the house in happiness for all of us. Thank you! The fight is not over.

KateShugakIsALegend · 17/04/2025 16:50

Indeed!

Thank you MN.

I cane for the fat balls, I stayed for the feminism. Thank you everyone.

SidewaysOtter · 17/04/2025 17:39

Thank you @JustineMumsnet I’ve had posts removed - removals that I vociferously disagreed with (sorry!) - but I did understand the pressures you were under. Or I thought I did, I now realise how bad it was.

Thank you for holding the line and letting us speak.

Oh and Ocado? I was about to start placing the occasional top up order with you, but now you can FUCK RIGHT OFF.

mrshoho · 17/04/2025 17:52

Does Ocado not remember what happened the last time it messed with FWR? If I remember they had to issue an apology blaming a junior customer service employee pretty quickly after 100s of orders were abruptly cancelled.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 17/04/2025 18:02

Jesus Christ on a bike, @JustineMumsnet - I always thought I knew roughly the pressures you were under from advertisers but that is just awful to read.

Mumsnet is a unique space for women and you have well and truly earned your place in feminist history.

@JustineMumsnet and @mnhq

Like most I didn't know what was going on behind the scenes. I've been on here about 10 years and had a fair few posts deleted- all is forgiven.
There are some very knowledgeable ladies on MN. I wasn't aware that women were being closed down on other platforms. Thanks you 😘

I'm pretty sure this is all part of the same thing.

It's just memories are short.

Igmum · 17/04/2025 18:26

Yes, thank you MNHQ. You have provided a safe space for discussion barred elsewhere plus many quokkas. We are grateful.

Talkinpeace · 17/04/2025 18:31

I was banned for several years after making a Trans Comment (that I will not repeat)

I asked very nicely and was allowed back.

Mumsnet is a force for good. Justine is a shero.

I will say I've name changed a fair few times, esp after a thread I'd posted was taken out of context by the Daily Mail!

paddingtoncoffee · 17/04/2025 18:38

@JustineMumsnet thank you so much for putting the heart of the site above commercial interests, so many have folded. It's obviously not over, but thanks to all who pushed for protecting rights for all, which is what the judgement made clear is the intention

LeSlogo · 17/04/2025 18:42

Thank you MNHQ!

Testingmypatience1 · 17/04/2025 18:51

I wholeheartedly agree, thank you MN 🙏🏼
It was brave and courageous at the time, I remember it well, given the relentless threats, pressure and the challenges directed at MN and aimed squarely at free speech, the forum allowed all of us the safety to speak our minds and communicate our true feelings, therefore part of the reason why it launched so swiftly into the main stream.

I hope I will never witness such silencing again in my life time.

Thank you also to the intelligent trail blazers that educated us all so patiently year after year on MN - you know who you are.
