A fun TwiX trending list.

(If anyone's wondering, JO'B is not reverse ferreting. He's doubling down, and asking women to explain why he can't share a changing room with them.)

I know the collective noun for ferrets is a business.

What is the collective noun for reversing ferrets? A hypocrisy?

I am expecting a hypocrisy of reversing ferrets? I think that works.

A sterref?

The judge mentioned how cogent the Sex Matters case was.

That was brilliant.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 16/04/2025 14:18

I'm not sure that penultimate sentence says quite what he intended.

I’m assuming the general answer is … because we don’t want to!

Shortshriftandlethal · 16/04/2025 14:19

What of those schools that have turned their toilets into 'Gender Neutral' facilities.....such as one in my city; and in which CCTV then had to be installed.

I imagine the full legal ramifications of the ruling have to be worked out and made clear......but who is going to do this......you can bet that Labour will attempt to continue to fudge and shrug off responsibility.

murasaki · 16/04/2025 14:19

I would have assumed the community would back away from JM as he's a total liability.

JOB hates women. Absolutely hates them. He couldn't make it more obvious if he tried.

That fucking wanker is still parroting the same line he used with Posie Parker all those years ago in that infamous phone call? That man understands nothing about safeguarding, does he? And he has an over-inflated view of his own popularity if he thinks most women would know who he is if they met him in the bogs!

Women don't owe him an explanation or an invitation.

Labour will blame everyone else rather accept any responsibility for the mess: schools, prison authorities, local councils, NHS etc. etc.

It's certainly appalling use of English.

Jolyon is a barrister, a profession for whom words are the stock in trade, and was expensively educated at Wellington, and later at Durham.

You would think he'd be better at words and spelling and stuff.

the words 'ask for a refund' spring to mind

murasaki · 16/04/2025 14:33

I'm tempted to write to my MP, she's new, and kept her views to herself in campaigning, although one of her door to door canvassers practically ran away from me....

Something along the lines of:

Please can you confirm that you are supportive of the Government's pledge to support single sex spaces based on biological sex, as clarified by the Supreme Court. I am aware that the Government have previously said that they supported such spaces, despite it being evident that this support was not based on biological sex as it included GRC holders. As the ruling is merely a clarification of the law, rather than a change, previous statements have therefore been misleading as single sex spaces have not been supported in the past.

Thank you for your clarification on this.

Any changes welcome!

Oh, and there's absolutely no reason for any woman to assume this man, JO'B, is a straight up and safe person, just because he's in the media. The class of male called "DJ" and "News Anchor" hasn't exactly covered itself in glory these past 40 years, has it? The assumption that a woman should think he is safe because he's on the radio and says he is safe is a testament to his huge arrogance and self regard.

Labour will blame everyone else rather accept any responsibility for the mess: schools, prison authorities, local councils, NHS etc. etc.

As the Tory government which was in power over those prison authorities, the NHS, etc, will be rushing to accept responsibility for the mess which blew up under its 14-year reign, that will be unnecessary.

The SNP will similarly be rushing to take responsibility for the Scotland-only parts.Grin

No?

BeLemonNow · 16/04/2025 14:36

Just attempted and failed to explain to someone that the judgement isn't "bad" for trans. Typically the focus is on the wants of certain biological men to do basically whatever they like.

It's good for biological women who want to transition to living as "trans men". It clarifies they are still be protected I.e. if pregnant. and also from discrimination from gender reassignment.

PerkingFaintly · 16/04/2025 14:39

NoFineBalance · 16/04/2025 10:38

The battle isn't over. Kier Starmer and the government needs to be watched closely. They will be lobbied hard by the trans lobby to bring in new legislation that overturns/nullifies/amends the EqA, and renders this judgment meaningless. Parliament is the ultimate legislator in this country (unlike the US, where the Supreme Court has that power). I am hoping KS will just let the whole thing quietly go away now and accept it as settled law, but he will be under pressure by the extreme left wing of his party to fix this.

Edited for typo

Yes, agree strongly. Trans lobbyists will absolutely be trying for this.

But given the speed with which Wes Streeting moved to make the ban on puberty blockers permanent, I think those lobbyists may find it a hard sell.

We shall see. Very important to continue close scrutiny.
