Fucking fantastic!! I'm on a campsite with a dodgy 4g connection so couldn't watch live, and news sites weren't loading either. But Mumsnet seems to magically work without needing a lot of data or something, huzzah!! I will spend this evening catching up on all the coverage once I'm home with WiFi.

I also listened to the first judgement and wonder if this might also impact the Sandy Peggie ruling regarding open justice too?

There is going to be so many DEI and HR people going “Oh Shit” as they have a lot of work to do.

Every space with “Woman” on the door means only biological women can walk through it. Toilets, changing rooms, prisons - how can a male be in a woman’s prison. It makes it mixed sex.

Am I right that, while this is a ruling in relation to two Scottish parties, the Equality act is UK law so this judgement has UK wide repercussions?

The battle isn't over. Kier Starmer and the government needs to be watched closely. They will be lobbied hard by the trans lobby to bring in new legislation that overturns/nullifies/amends the EqA, and renders this judgment meaningless. Parliament is the ultimate legislator in this country (unlike the US, where the Supreme Court has that power). I am hoping KS will just let the whole thing quietly go away now and accept it as settled law, but he will be under pressure by the extreme left wing of his party to fix this.
