Do you wear anything like a badge, scarf etc or carry anything (such as a key ring or visible sticker on something) that signals your terfiness?

I was thinking of making something in suffragette colours to wear or use but just looking for ideas.

Oh sorry forgot to answer the OP which is, I have a little 'deeds not words' pin on my work coat and dinosaur stud earrings.

I hope they would signify my feelings to anyone sufficiently interested in the topic but has plausible deniability.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 24/03/2025 10:08

I have my suffragette scarf, and two sets of dinosaur earrings that make more regular appearances.
Someone asked me what my favourite dinosaur was, my reply was a rights hoarding one.

Terf is “trans exclusionary radical feminist” - the exclusion of “trans” is from the category “radical feminist.”

This is interesting.
I have never considered myself a Terf as I absolutely do include trans men (aka females) in my feminism whether they want to be included or not.
But I agree that anyone who subscribes to a ideology that throws women under the bus cannot be a feminist and therefore, yes, I do say they are excluded from being a radical feminist... Hmmm.

Another good point! Damn, we all had our power breakfasts this morning. I agree, my exclusion is only of trans-identifying men from my radical feminism. So maybe I need to call myself a Merf?

A little Manchester bee in the suffragette colours. Plausible deniability at work due to Emmeline Pankhurst statue is a stones throw from our offices but I've seen other women spot it and give me a nod. It depresses me that we still feel we have to be hidden so often.

Thanks @HobnobsChoice . Just bought mine and will see how long it takes our local WI committee to notice and object. . I am hiding in plain sight.

Also! Do you think we could persuade The Famous Artist Birdy Rose to make some of her designs as enamel badges? Because i’m not quite ready for T-shirt level attention, but her artwork would look fab as a pin on a lapel or a bag…

Why wouldn't you include all females in your feminism? Would you include men who identify as women? As Cass found, transmen are likely to be ND, lesbians, victims of sexual abuse and neglect and other co-morbidities and thus potentially more vulnerable to the lure of gender ideology.

I try to stand by Andrea Dworkin's definition.
Feminism is a political practice of fighting male supremacy on behalf of women as a class, including all the women you don't like, including all the women you don't want to be around, including all the women who use to be your best friends whom you don't want anything to do with any more. It doesn't matter who the individual women are.

Obviously it makes feminism more difficult and messy and hard when one includes women who are in denial of their sex. In my lesbian circles we struggle with how to include the lesbians who identify as men but still want to attend lesbian-only events — but we struggle and include those women where we can, because they are women, even if we don't agree on anything.

I have pin badges and ribbons on my bag, a scarf and I often wear terfy tshirts and hoodies.

OverpricedCupcake · 24/03/2025 10:25

I have some antique suffrage jewellery. I’ve been asked by some younger friends not to wear it.

No ! That’s shocking.

I doubt many people here consider themselves terfs, especially as it's a slur.

Edited

I would imagine most of the women on these feminist boards would consider themselves Terfs e.g. that they know biology is fact and that sex isn't something you feel as opposed to having. Also that men - even if wearing frocks (why do they always wear frocks?!) - are to stay out of women's spaces, and that those women's spaces are wherever women say they are.
Terf is only a slur if you have drunk the kool aid and have not yet found the antidote.

SirChenjins · 24/03/2025 10:35

I have a green, white and purple lanyard that I wear at work - I've had a few knowing smiles and I feel it gives a dose of much needed sanity to the rainbows.

Grammarnut · 24/03/2025 10:38

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 24/03/2025 08:21

Yeah i don’t use it

I'm all for people using it for themselves if they want to 😀 but it is a slur

Something that points out that gender ideology is about men's rights cannot be a slur.

Notaflippinclue · 24/03/2025 10:39

I’m a terf - member of the PIW, wear a KJK hoody on my walks and a purple and green bobble hat so what - loud and proud the only way slur? Pwahahaha it’s a badge of honour to me!

Notaflippinclue · 24/03/2025 10:41

Oh and I wear Frida jewellery!

Grammarnut · 24/03/2025 10:44

frenchnoodle · 24/03/2025 09:02

And not knowing the "feminism" part of feminism excludes men is very..... Strange... but each to their own.

What does that mean? Of course feminism centres women. Women's rights and women's freedom and opportunity are what feminism is about. Men can fight their own battles.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 24/03/2025 10:44

Notaflippinclue · 24/03/2025 10:41

Frida jewellery? This is a new one to me - Frida Kahlo? Or a different Frida?

frenchnoodle · 24/03/2025 10:46

Grammarnut · 24/03/2025 10:44

The word Feminism excludes men. The "Exclusionary" in terf is not needed, feminism covers it just fine.

I just feel we need to remember how much effort was put in to getting it recognised as an actual slur.

Nope TERF and proud. I keep meaning to mark a scarf in suffragette colours. I did have dinosaur earrings but lost them but I doubt anybody would notice them. My adult human female umbrella got some conversations going at the bus stop.

frenchnoodle · 24/03/2025 10:52

It's amazing how much this has changed in a few years

Notaflippinclue · 24/03/2025 10:55

Frida Khalif - there is a girl online makes whatever you want - lovely and gaudy always gets the younger girls talking they all know who she is.

YeGodsandLittleFishies · 24/03/2025 11:07

Setting aside preferred nomenclature, last time I attended our local women’s festival there were lots of women dressed in various combinations of green, white and purple at the train station.

We all looked at each other on the platform speculatively until one lady unbuttoned her coat and twirled her suffrage scarf and we all smiled and gathered round.

An increasingly large group formed and we had a lovely time on the train together. Sometimes it pays to discretely advertise.

i’ll bet it did 😀 i have two Alex Munroe dino necklaces

hurdigurdi · 24/03/2025 11:09

@NotaflippinclueI’m assuming you mean Frida Kahlo! Isn’t Khalif that Algerian boxer…
The autocorrect on here is very sneaky.
