The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) said it does not comment on individual members of staff, but that a duty manager is available in every establishment for visitors to speak to about any concerns or issues. It said: "We have processes in place to ensure the rights and wellbeing of all staff are protected, in accordance with equality legislation."
The headline is Prison staff's concern over trans officer searching female visitors.
Which suggests they are not, in fact ensuring the rights and wellbeing of 'all staff' because at least one has had to speak to the press because they obviously felt they couldn't raise it with the prison leadership. And the SPS response simply ignores any obligation to ensure the 'rights and wellbeing' of all visitors.
