@PriOn1 That sounds a little bit like you expect a higher standard of what you deem to be acceptable behaviour from JKR because she’s a woman. It feeds back into the ‘oh just be kind, after all they only want to pee’ mantra. Taking the moral high ground is all well and good, but sometimes these revolting men just need to get it with both barrels and I personally applaud her when she reduces them to exactly what they are, pathetic little men.

No, I wouldn’t say I expect higher standards because she’s a woman. It’s hard to explain, but it’s to do with giving attention and publicity to bullies. Someone said down thread that she’s drawing their fire to stop other women getting bullied, and perhaps that’s true.

But I will repeat my main point, “I wish she would grey rock this abusive man though, and all the other abusive men she gives publicity to.”

I love, for example, MaryCate Delvey and her “Listen to trans people,” videos. She highlights the ridiculousness of what these men say, but we never have to see them or know their names. She is absolutely brilliant and I love her work.

I hate seeing pictures of these perverts on my timeline. I hate that they are getting publicity at all, because that is what they crave. There’s no point trying to shame them and I think that sometimes, in giving them that publicity, we actually encourage them. I believe there’s some research suggesting that school shootings go down if the murderer isn’t given coverage, but we’re all so fascinated we can’t look away.

Many have said they think Upton was enjoying himself in court. Imagine how happy he’d be if JK Rowling had concentrated on him and not Sandie Peggie. Highlight the victims and stand by them, ignore the bullies.

But anyway, my admiration for JK Rowling is still huge. I contribute monthly to one of her charities and am incredibly grateful she’s on the side of the women fighting this. I was trying to express a very nuanced situation, which undoubtedly is affected by pain in my own life, inflicted by transactivism and bullying.

Is she?
Why did she use Robert Galbraith as her pen name then? Do you also support Gay Conversion Therapy and the horrors that go with it? As that's what Robert Galbraith did. And she chose it. She's an intelligent woman. She knew what she was doing.

Not this nonsense again. 🥱

In most areas of life I myself would take the path of ignoring them, but I think in JKR’s situation she has such a massive reach that by highlighting their ridiculous behaviour she is able to shine a light on it. I don’t believe we would be anywhere close to getting the level of attention necessary to combat this insidious ideology without her.

She is the reason it was brought to my attention, as one of my nieces said that I shouldn’t read her books because she was a nasty person (my niece was 11 at the time) when all I had read about her was about her philanthropy. Of course, once I looked into it I couldn’t believe what I was reading and have been peaked ever since! I should add that my niece is now 20, is a lesbian and has a very different, hugely positive attitude towards JKR thankfully!

It’s hard being a woman in this world, many of us spend too much of our lives being bullied in one way or another, having our intelligence questioned, our needs ridiculed and our safety compromised, not to mention not only having often to not only compete with men in the workplace, but to actually be better than them in order to simply be treated fairly.

Thank you for engaging with me, I don’t have many friends who are willing to discuss this subject in detail, I think they just humour me so I’ll shut up ☺️.

PriOn1. Please look at the original tweet ^^ again
And see what she was responding to.

If the people in your life are arguing they are all nice people JKR helps point out that they can not be nice people and use X tweets to bully people.
The original post was an attempt to hold SP up to public ridicule. The way it was done is deemed transphobic as we the general public must judge the man as passing or not.

Upton may have believed that he is presenting a positive image of himself but even to the most uninformed a doctor claiming not to be able to tell if he is male or not will not be seen as a positive.

And at the end of the day he is irrelevant. A poor witness who imo damaged the hospitals case. The issue is did SP's employer breach her rights by allowing any man into the womens CR.

My lesbian daughter isn’t talking to me because I agree with JK Rowling. Undoubtedly it is skewing my viewpoint.

Glad your daughter has come out from under the spell.
