I forgot to credit DemonicCaveMaggot with the inspiration for my genius get rich quick schemeSmile

Will alpacas be included too? Or do they have to identify as llamas?

I wonder if the toilets in the House of Commons are mixed sex 🤔

I bet they'll never be.... A bit of loo based NIMBYism. 🙄

Modern dentistry is a wonderful thing.

Only if they can be depended on to poop in exactly the same place, like llamas do... I will allow myself to be guided in this matter by m'learned friend Chersfrozenface who seems to know a lot about camelids.

A lot.. like how long their mating lasts. Did you major in Animal Husbandry before they caught you at it, Cher?Grin
That's a Tom Lehrer reference, not a libel, BTW!

And if you do decide to sue me for libel Cher, see you in court, and bags I NCWink

If so, she could easily put out a statement saying so.

MarieDeGournay · 10/02/2025 20:01

OK as you were, go back to discussing serious matters, I'm going to stop being silly now and go and have my tea!Smile

It was the farm park incident that prompted me to do a little research on camelids.

Also, I live in Wales and there are quite a few, er, people here who keep camelids in an attempt to make money. Ventures such as llama trekking - it's not like pony trekking, where at least you get to sit down, oh no, you have to walk beside the critters.

I voted Labour in the last election.

But I won't again.

Oh Marie!

I'm learning that Mumsnet disapproves of links (and/or photos) but I can't resist this for you: (first line of this brilliant performance of a glorious piece of music, sung by a certain tall and solidly built Australian human adult female)

And, as a Tom Lehrer fan, here's an (AFAIK OK) link to the animal husbandry intro to an NSFW song:

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel but where would llama's do their business??? Barn or hedge 🤣🤣

🤣

Myfluffyblanket · 10/02/2025 20:45

@Chersfrozenface I read somewhere that camels (dunno if its Bactrian or Dromedary)are so rubbish at the act of procreation that were it not for the intervention of camelherders they would have become extinct by now.
Please confirm; I do worry so .

admirible · 10/02/2025 20:46

But what will happen to the pastime of cottaging?

That's very kind of you CrystalSingerFan!

I confess I had to google the words - and I was a bit puzzled because the first line was Oh Madonna, not Oh Marie - mistaken identity or wha? - but then the Oh Marie appeared and all was revealed. Nice to know I have my own aria thank youSmile

The Tom Lehrer video wouldn't play but it doesn't matter, I have lots of TL imprinted in my memory.

I have had to look that up.

Dromedaries kept by humans are often assisted to copulate, but this is probably not necessary, in fact, as feral dromedaries in Australia reproduce naturally.

Oh good . Also , is it true that the male camel has to um...approach the adult female camel in reverse? Something about her hump getting in the way.

So clicking on the link: "Watch on YouTube" didn't work?

I'm still trying to get to grips with this pesky technology... Anyone with a clue willing to explain it to me?

AFAIK all camelids mate with the female sitting on the ground and the male behind her with his forelegs on either side of her body.

Then of course there's the orgling, a sort of throaty grunting sound the male makes throughout the mating process. It is thought to help induce ovulation. It certainly attracts the attention of children at farm parks.

Their latest argument is fully enclosed cubicles isn't it? I've seen it so many times in the last few days.
No. No. No.
Not only are these dangerous for those taken ill, they allow men into cubicles to plant cameras or ejaculate on things they shouldn't.
No men in women's toilets or changing rooms AT ALL.
(Yes OK you might have a male cleaner but that's it.)

It is hilariously tragic that almost any level of expense and effort is considered reasonable to avoid having to support a woman saying "no" to a man.

"Men who identify as women want to use women's private spaces but many women don't want them to? Clearly the only possible solution is to rebuild every single private space to be single occupancy!"

Princessfluffy · 11/02/2025 07:18

OMG I read this as "there should be no women, only toilets"

That's probably stage 2
