It was the farm park incident that prompted me to do a little research on camelids.

Also, I live in Wales and there are quite a few, er, people here who keep camelids in an attempt to make money. Ventures such as llama trekking - it's not like pony trekking, where at least you get to sit down, oh no, you have to walk beside the critters.

I voted Labour in the last election.

@Chersfrozenface I read somewhere that camels (dunno if its Bactrian or Dromedary)are so rubbish at the act of procreation that were it not for the intervention of camelherders they would have become extinct by now.

Dromedaries kept by humans are often assisted to copulate, but this is probably not necessary, in fact, as feral dromedaries in Australia reproduce naturally.

AFAIK all camelids mate with the female sitting on the ground and the male behind her with his forelegs on either side of her body.

Then of course there's the orgling, a sort of throaty grunting sound the male makes throughout the mating process. It is thought to help induce ovulation. It certainly attracts the attention of children at farm parks.
