Order taking effect:

Denver Health pauses gender-affirming surgeries for trans youth to preserve federal funding

At the end of the new clip they asked Denver what surgeries they would no longer be performing [on children]. Unsurprisingly they didn't answer, still 'sorting all that out'Hmm

duc748 · 31/01/2025 00:06

Who could possibly think that removing healthy body parts from teenagers was a good thing?

SionnachRuadh · 31/01/2025 00:30

The thing is, the Dems have been comparing Republican presidential candidates to Hitler since the Truman campaign did it against Tom Dewey (!) in 1948.

They gave it a rest for Eisenhower, because calling Ike a Nazi would just have been too ridiculous, but it's been escalating ever since.

I'm old enough to remember "Reagan = Hitler". Most of us will remember "Bush = Hitler".

Joe Biden told a black audience that Mitt Romney wanted to "put y'all back in chains". That's Mitt Romney, the definitive anti-Trump milquetoast conservative.

Trump has just appointed Scott Bessent, a married gay man, to be his Treasury Secretary, and we're supposed to believe he's got a secret plan to outlaw gay marriage.

Spend more than ten minutes on Democrat subreddits, and you have to conclude that there's a definite element there who don't fear the Trump administration turning into Nazi Germany - they desire it, and they're furious that he's not giving it to them.

I wish there was a word for this kind of political psychopathology.

Some people have a problem, and it's not those of us who are willing to take a win from these EOs.

Runor · 31/01/2025 07:15

So when I say I have a pretty low opinion of Trump and he is is amoral and not interested in defending women’s rights (9.37 Thursday) you think that means I’m defending him?

When I posted at 21.47 on Wednesday I referenced the woman who wrote these EO’s you think I mean Trump?

I’m well aware of the dangers, but I’ll also take the wins. I won’t agree with everything (much?) Trump does, but I wouldn’t have loved everything Harris would have done either. And don’t forget, there’re Dems benefiting financially from medically harming children……they’re not perfect either

Runor · 31/01/2025 07:17

Talkinpeace · 30/01/2025 21:42

@Runor
Trump is neither writing nor reading nor caring about EOs such as these

the first one was identified as having been written by a campaigning lawyer
likely she wrote these later two as well

BUT
they are part of Project 2025

Clearly defining women and families is part of that playbook
be careful

Sorry, meant to quote Talkinpeace

@FlowchartRequired Don't assume that I dislike people with trans identities as a group - I don't. Many of them are the biggest victims of this damaging ideology.

Seeing that damage to someone I knew was the thing that woke me up to the horror of the gender project.

We know that Trump didn't author the EOs shared on this board. I suspect that that is totally normal and that it would be unusual - to say the least - for an incoming US President to write every word of every EO they sign.

Don't assume that I dislike people with trans identities as a group - I don't. Many of them are the biggest victims of this damaging ideology.

Remember, most women who post on this board are in the UK and therfore had no vote in the US election. You can bang on about 'Project 2025' but it is not our doing - for good or bad - that Trump and the GOP won. The Dems should have stood up against this ideology, but they didn't.

Of course and reading the EOs it's clear that language needs to be considered and checked and a team will be doing that

That would be normal

Presumably top line ideas come from the President

Bloody hell. I'm delighted to see WPATH being chucked in the bin. Unfortunately misinformed people will doubtless object to this on political grounds despite this whole house of cards being built on "junk science".

We can see this trope being utterly repeated ad nauseum. It happens often enough on these threads. You object to removal of single sex spaces, you’re a far right nazi. You object to young girls removing their breasts, stopping puberty, taking CSH, you must be a far right Christian evangelist. You don’t embrace men in women’s sports, you’re a Trump supporter.

Why oh why has it taken Trump (more likely his advisers) to draw a line in the sand on this madness ruining young peoples lives? It is on the so-calked progressive left that we are where we are. Depending on Trump to protect children. And giving the left every reason to maintain their crazy thinking just because they would never agree with him.

This is an excellent review of the harms of "gender ideology" in the last decade or so by Abigail Shrier, highlighting in particular the malign actions of the Obama and Biden administrations in enabling and promoting it:

Loving, naive parents believed medical science was above politics and beyond question. Now, with the stroke of a pen, a destructive ideology has been eliminated.

Exactly.

The question is not 'why is Trump doing this?' - because any sane adult would be doing this.

The question is why the hell the Democrats are NOT doing this? And I guess the reason is that they're so frozen by their tribal loyalties and inability to admit they got it wrong - that they can't. A disgraceful place to have found themselves in.

very sobering.

Well worth a read

yes, the dems were hellbent on implementing the ideology. Telling children seeking surgery that they 'have their backs'.

TheKeatingFive · 31/01/2025 12:01

That's very interesting. I know some work has already been done on this, but the relationship between Obama and the Pritzker family seems particularly important and worth further investigation.

ThreeWordHarpy · 31/01/2025 12:09

The Democrats need a Lyndon Johnson figure to stand up and say they were wrong about this thing they previously supported and put them back on the correct path of protecting children and women.

Segregation was around for an awful lot longer than Gender Ideology but it will take a similar size shift in thinking to realign values of both people and party.

SionnachRuadh · 31/01/2025 12:11

Chicago politics of course. As usual with Obama.

JB Pritzker wants to be the Democratic candidate for president in 2028, and the party might be dumb enough to nominate him.

Instant Republican attack ad: "Pritzker wants to cut your son's dick off"

FlowchartRequired · 31/01/2025 12:36

It's a shame that the article doesn't point out that Strangio is a transman, as that bit of information does enlighten the reader about Strangio's bias on this issue.

I've always thought Pritzker is a bit onomatopoeic; it sounds like surgery!

SionnachRuadh · 31/01/2025 12:41

I'd seen print interviews with Strangio before, but it's only when she was recently arguing before the Supreme Court that I heard her on audio.

Yeah... the facial hair is doing all the heavy lifting.

Disagreeable contrarians who resisted gender fever are the real oddballs. Some combination of personality quirk and conviction that occasionally makes us obnoxious employees and intolerable cocktail-party guests also inoculated us against gender madness. There is no reforming us.
But we served a vital function: Together, a ragtag crew of truculent journalists and outcast researchers stopped the entire herd from running off the cliff. None of us ever expected to be welcomed back into the same elite circles that, only recently, had cheered or looked away as a generation of tormented girls took themselves apart.

I did a Big Five Personality Trait test once and discovered (without surprise) that, if there were 100 people in a room, only 1 would be less agreeable than me😁I've always made the point that disagreeableness would have served an evolutionary function. Wonder how many GC women are disagreeable?

I haven't taken this test but generally I'd class myself as a sensitive, introvert people pleaser who has/had a lot of trust in authority. I believe in the scientific method. I was also a second wave feminist who stupidly thought we'd got women's rights sorted in the 1980s and that it was all plain sailing from there. How wrong I was. I feel betrayed by authorities that I previously trusted (nhs, universities, civil service, bbc, Guardian etc.). I never really thought about transgender ideology until the Isla Bryson case in Scotland. I went from What's this about then? to full on Terf in about a month thanks to Mumsnet and Twitter and my own belief in science and women's rights. Wanting to protect children from irreversible harm also came into it. Because of my personality my Terfing consists of writing to my MP, contributing to crowd-funders and commenting on Mumsnet and Twitter where appropriate. I admire the bolshy ones without being one myself. I am deeply grateful for those who have taken all the flack on this.

I'm even disagreeable about agreeableness. It's always presented as such a wonderful trait; kind, empathetic, willing to go with the flow, trusting. I just think "bunch of boring doormats" 😂(not you@Lovelyview obvs😘)
