I've got to say, I swallowed the general UK media line about Trump, but my estimation of his intelligence and character has gone up enormously through reading the EOs which are well written, clear, humane and convincing.

At the very least he knows how to surround himself with the best people.

Whatever you think about Trump - and I have a pretty low opinion - his academic record speaks for itself. He may be amoral, he doesn’t care much about women’s rights, but he’s not stupid. Same goes for Musk

take appropriate action to end child-abusive practices by so-called sanctuary States that facilitate stripping custody from parents who support the healthy development of their own children, including by considering the application of the Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act

Surely this will raise even the most stubborn lefty's eyebrows?? Or should...

There's now a new EO - "Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 schooling".

He's really clearing out the Augean stables.

One of the impressive things is that they obviously haven't just been spending the last four years preparing for an election - they have been getting g their ducks in a row for the day he takes power.

Good grief - that's fantastic. Don't you wish all this was happening here? The progress in stopping the indoctrination of children in schools has stalled since the new government.

user123212 · 30/01/2025 10:35

I usually think American politics shouldn't filter over here, but for once I do (to clean up the mess they started in the first place)

They really are cleaning house aren't they! My flabber is well and truly gasted at all these EOs.

This is what we need in our schools.

Meanwhile I am awaiting developments in the NHS with interest - much NHS software has been bought in from USA and has frequently replaced sex with gender, hence reports of newborn babies' discharge letters stating their gender rather than sex.
Will the software get re-written in the USA and filter down here I wonder? 🤞

duc748 · 30/01/2025 11:27

I wonder what all the actual native Americans think about that "250 years old" stuff? If you believe America's history is glorious and patriotic and all the rest of the Stars and Stripes bollocks, I can't see how you're teaching kids history accurately. So I'd suggest a bit of overreach in this last one.

DeanElderberry · 30/01/2025 12:13

That relates to section 4 of the other EO

www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-radical-indoctrination-in-k-12-schooling/

It's a fact that the USA became independent in 1776.

It had fewer states, many of the present states were still home to the indigenous people, others were Spanish or French or Russian before becoming part of the USA, and most Americans' ancestors were still living on other continents in 1776, but there's nothing to stop teaching all those aspects of history and celebrating what started in 1776.

Is that Marcie Bowers talking about 'suicidality'?

What I can't understand is the inability of people even in the face of this so clearly worded EO to recognise they might be in an echo chamber themselves over the sterilisation of children. A lesbian I know, who's a psychologist, posted a meme on facebook about how Trump's going to start deporting minority groups. It makes no sense if you actually look at facts and not hysterical posturing.

The title of this EO is pretty clear and SURELY should give ANYONE who cares about child safeguarding some pause? What the fuck is wrong with people? That they put tribalism over children?

Even the Dutch protocol on which 'gender affirmation' medical treatment is based, had a child who DIED as a result of 'gender affirming' care - directly as a result of the operation to remove / invert a penis. IIRC that was recorded as a 'positive outcome' because the poor child initially expressed satisfaction at having the surgery - because obviously he'd been brainwashed by adults into thinking this was necessary and safe. Then he died in agony. Totally unnecessarily. It's clear as day child experimentation and abuse.

The rate of complications for this sort of surgery is horrendous and it's all horrifically on screen in the case of Jazz Jennings including the fact that if children are put on puberty blockers first then the surgery is less successful and more difficult. When I watch that show it's just jaw on the floor - the parents looking uncomfortable when they realise the doctors don't know what they're doing and it's experimentation - they even say they thought the doctors knew what they were doing... Then Jazz's Mum (at a hospital appointment) saying something along the lines of 'someone as young as Jazz shouldn't have this many health problems' well no shit sherlock. Why might that be... hmmm?

It's all there plain as day. Yet TRUMP'S in the wrong on this? He's never been more right. .

Because if you look at social media, many many people don't go to the source. They'll read an op piece or watch a heavily redacted 'react' video of clips, or read memes. I'd guess most people don't read the text of the EOs themselves.

ArabellaScott · 30/01/2025 19:48

Which is partly how soundbites and trite phrases are believed, with little to no basis in fact.

Talkinpeace · 30/01/2025 21:42

@Runor
Trump is neither writing nor reading nor caring about EOs such as these

the first one was identified as having been written by a campaigning lawyer
likely she wrote these later two as well

BUT
they are part of Project 2025

Clearly defining women and families is part of that playbook
be careful

CovertPiggery · 30/01/2025 21:43

The problem with people like Trump is that they lure you in by pretending to only dislike the people you dislike.

He's not going to stop there.

He's now saying people with physical disabilities shouldn't be doing jobs like air traffic controllers.

Came to say this. It reminds me of the poem “First They Came” by Martin Niemöller. Be careful to congratulate a megalomaniac like Trump.

AlisonDonut · 30/01/2025 22:33

First they came for the child mutilation and chemical castration doctors....erm...good.

user123212 · 30/01/2025 22:37

No one's saying we're going to like everything from this administration. But this is pure gold. So why didn't the Democrats do it?

user123212 · 30/01/2025 22:39

People like Biden pretend to like everyone but actually hates women and children

teawamutu · 30/01/2025 22:43

AlisonDonut · 30/01/2025 22:33

First they came for the child mutilation and chemical castration doctors....erm...good.

...Then they came for the men in women's prisons and put them in men's prisons and suspended the utter cunts who put them there in the first place.

... And I thought, a stopped clock and all that.

Appreciate the note of caution and all that, but (a) rather patronising to think that that hasn't occurred to anyone on this or the many other related threads this week (B) I'm not going to turn my nose up at a good idea because Orange Man Bad. That was the Dems' entire strategy and it was a spectacular failure. They're going to need some good ideas of their own.

Lovelyview · 30/01/2025 22:52

I don't think anyone on this board is under the illusion that Trump has women's interests at heart. If I were gay in America I would be concerned about elements of the Republican party who want to ban gay marriage although this wasn't something Trump campaigned on and I don't think he will do this but I don't think anyone knows what's going to happen over the next four years. Coming for people who are medically transing children or teaching kids they might have been born in the wrong body and making it clear that men should keep out of women's spaces and sports is completely 100 per cent the right thing to do. Obviously it will play out in unpredictable ways - not least that people will say if Trump's doing it then it must be bad. All I can say is that on this particular issue I'm grateful that Trump and his team have brought the big cannons to the battle.

FlowchartRequired · 30/01/2025 23:15

We know that Trump didn't author the EOs shared on this board. I suspect that that is totally normal and that it would be unusual - to say the least - for an incoming US President to write every word of every EO they sign.

Don't assume that I dislike people with trans identities as a group - I don't. Many of them are the biggest victims of this damaging ideology.

Remember, most women who post on this board are in the UK and therfore had no vote in the US election. You can bang on about 'Project 2025' but it is not our doing - for good or bad - that Trump and the GOP won. The Dems should have stood up against this ideology, but they didn't.

duc748 · 30/01/2025 23:43

This. No-one here is under any illusions about about Trump, he is a POS. But... we realise he knows an easy win when he sees one. And these EOs can only do a massive amount of good, world-wide.
