Horrifying Republican response to Bishop's sermon

These are tweets from Matt Walsh on X about Bishop Marian Budde and her sermon earlier today in Washington, attacking her womanhood and ability in a sexist and ageist tirade. It seems the clarion call has gone out to the rest of the Trump X minions, as they are all tweeting the same sentiments - including Kellie-Jay Keen and Donald Trump Jnr. Rep. Mike Collins całłed for her deportation, although she is American. Do you still support Trump after this?

“A liberal woman over the age of 50 with a lesbian haircut is guaranteed to support the most evil ideas and policies that mankind has ever conceived.”

“Just take one look at this witch and you know everything you need to know about her, even before she starts talking.”

“Of course this grotesque display is coming from a female “priest.” You will only ever hear heresy and inanity from someone whose whole existence is blasphemous.”

And another tweet from Bo Loudon: “🚨BREAKING: A bishop at the National Cathedrol just urged President Trump to protect transgender children and not deport illegal aliens because "they're not criminals."

Pure class from President Trump as he sat through this despicable politicization of the prayer service.”

Speech text:
““In the Name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now,” Budde stated. “There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families. Some who fear for their lives.

”The people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat-packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals. They may not be citizens, or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.”

Budde asked Trump “to have mercy” on people “in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away and that you help those who are fleeing warzones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here.

“Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger, for we were all once strangers in this land,” she continued. “May God grant us the strength and courage to honor the dignity of every human being, to speak the truth to one another in love, and walk humbly with each other and our God.”

Earlier in her message, Budde stressed the importance of unity, of respectfully disagreeing with one another, but also expressed concern over what she called “the culture of contempt” and feared “the loss of equality” for some who lose in political debates.

What a horrible, divisive message this is! 🙄 Personally, I think Budde's message is courageous and beautiful, and clearly deeply Christian at its core.

@AlisonDonut

What do you mean 'obviously coordinated'?
What is wrong with KJK's response that you tried to imply was 'horrific'?

Alison, re-read the OP. 'Horrific' does not refer to KJK's tweet by itself. It refers to the coordinated amount of tweets from Trump affiliated acolytes that were sent out at roughly the same time saying the same thing.

I’m not a Trump supporter and I remain utterly dismayed that he was voted back into power.

But I also think that our children need protecting from harmful gender ideology and that suggesting that “trans children” fear for their lives is unhelpful rhetoric.

i would never have voted for the orange clown but his willingness to undo gender brainwashing is the only tiny bit of brightness in a very big, black cloud.

Why did you include KJK at all if her tweet wasn't one of the horrific responses?

X works by something being posted and then people responding to it, so what you are describing as 'coordinated' seems to be a range of people responding in ways that are anything from 'huh I thought that was satire' to, well, whatever else you say they responded as you haven't actually referenced any of that which you posted.

Some might say posting this on MN and having a load of TRAs immediately respond agreeing with you is 'coordinated' and TRA affiliated acolytes being sent out at roughly the same time to say the same thing.

Awkward.

Jacquette · 22/01/2025 06:10

“Some might say posting this on MN and having a load of TRAs immediately respond agreeing with you is 'coordinated…”

I posted the first response and I’m not a TRA.

I had to look TRA up to make sure it meant what I thought it meant.

I care about all the things that Bishop preached.

mantaraya · 22/01/2025 06:14

I'm horrified by Trump and disgusted (but not surprised) by the comments towards this Bishop. However saying LGBT people "fear for their lives" is fearmongering and polarising. It's also pretty rich given the church's history of homophobia. There are plenty of other things that could have been mentioned such as Trump's plans to drastically reduce foreign aid / pulling out of the WHO which really will threaten people's lives.

AllEndeavour · 22/01/2025 06:19

What a brave woman. I hope she is not physically in danger. How these people can be so cruel yet call themselves Christians. Disgraceful.

These people that have just started the end of the child mutilation and sterilisation regime/network/programme? Yeah, real disgraceful and cruel.

Yeah that was my point. Well done ✅

KJK retweeted someone else's tweet (David Santa Carla - "This made my blood boil. Absolutely repulsive!") about the Bishop's speech with her own comments. KJK is from the UK and increasingly a Trump fan. That's why.

So you don't understand how social media marketing works?
By referencing, do you mean links?

What a silly thing to say. Are you attempting to stop people from agreeing with me? That's a bit shit, Alison.

Awkward.
Yep.

Her own comment which was that she thought it was a satire.

Yes, as I explained how it works, and there were no links in your OP.

Yes. That is what this is the START of, hence saying they have STARTED the process. In that this STARTS it. And the rest is somewhat farther off. Imagine a journey and to be able to go to your destination you first need a means of transport.

Maybe instead of just ranting you take a moment to parse what this is actually about.

Incidentally when she said she thought it was satire, you don't know whether she was indeed referring to Davids tweet, or the original clip, or the context of the speech. You made your own assumption and then posted that her response was 'horrific'.

And maybe you need to stop following all these people that you find horrific on X.

I have called them cruel and disgraceful for attacking someone who has simply asked for mercy for people she sees being demonised. Calling her a witch for example.is awful, when all she asks is for them to show some compassion.

NotBadConsidering · 22/01/2025 06:56

Who is “you” and what is meant by “support”? Because all I’ve seen is agreement with one particular executive order he signed.

Zita60 · 22/01/2025 07:02

mids2019 · 22/01/2025 05:11

At the end of the day a country of 300 million people have made their decision democratically on a president. Obviously some do not like his policies but for a woman of the cloth to so publically politicise a speech to embarrass a sitting democratically elected leader was wrong. Imagine if Keir Starmer visited a hospital and the CEO in a speech basically called him shit; he or she would lose their job.

She wasn’t “politicising” anything. She was asking him to show compassion and mercy for human beings she thinks are vulnerable. Compassion and mercy are supposed to be Christian values, so as a Christian minister she is surely entitled to ask the most powerful person in the country to have compassion and mercy. After all, Trump claims to be a Christian.

A hospital CEO calling Starmer a shit is not an equivalent situation. A better example would be him speaking against a Starmer policy that he thought would damage the hospital.

Saying children can be transsexuals is not compassion.

Newsenmum · 22/01/2025 07:17

Why is saying “trans children fear for their lives” such a difficult statement to accept? There always has been and always will be incredible vulnerable children fitting into this demographic. They are children. And whether or not they are ‘truly trans’ or brainwashed or whatever, they are extremely vulnerable and have a high rate of suicide. And there is a big gun culture of hate. I think they quite possibly are fearing for their lives. Compassion to help these children, however you see that, shouldn’t be disregarded and dismissed.

I also find it concerning when gender critical people disregard all the other disgusting things spoken purely because of agreeing with gender ideology.

AccountCreateUsername · 22/01/2025 07:17

I expect more of this rhetoric from trump and maga supporters. It’s a far right ideology and they’ve only just got started.

I agree with you OP. Ugly times ahead of his last term and promises are anything to go by.

I stopped taking any notice of anything KJK said or did a while ago. Not because I'm a TRA, but because I’m a second generation immigrant and her message and friends alienate me.

Some of the retweets could be bots, but not the initial tweets. The coordinated tweets pattern from the GOP is well established. (The Democrats do it as well, but on a more limited basis.)
