Freedom of Information requests about SEEN and Mumsnet

Dozens of requests to various public sector bodies asking about SEEN Networks and MN posts made by employees.

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1hobn9b/seen_network/

"There's been discussion here previously of the Sex Equality and Equity Network (SEEN). I've been using Freedom of Information requests to investigate this group's activities, particularly in the Civil Service (where they seem to have originated), and thought people might be interested in what I've learned."

Seems that this requestor is on a mission to unmask heretics.

What the chuff is a 'transphobic near miss' when it is at home?

I can't believe, actually I can, that the health and safety near miss process is being used in this way.

Someone who nearly passes but doesn't quite make it?

Near misses have to be reported using RIDDOR, maybe the HSE have changed it to the Reporting of Injurious, Dinosaurian and Dangerous Opinion Regulation. 😂

It's ridiculous, as are the people who reported.

Bit transphobic to suggest that a cis woman has different 'fanny bits' to a trans woman.

Yes. What about all the poor trans ladies with ‘outie’ fannies?

I'm a little upset/triggered/harmed (delete as appropriate) that Ms Brown has started her post "well hello ladies" - surely she/her should have checked everyone's gender identity and pronouns and preferred appellations before using such a generalised phrase. I've only just got up and not sure how I'm identifying today.

Chapeau! 🤣

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/12/2024 13:06

I imagine Laura's search started by looking through the HMRC staff directory, should such a thing exist, for senior members of staff called Maxipaws and Hoarderoffacts.

Are your pronouns Pingu / Hungover today?

Not even joking, I genuinely found that little "ladies" addressing a group of women with whom the poster disagrees surprisingly sexist from someone who presumably identifies as progressive. These TRAs just can't help themselves can they?

But then again, they really can't help themselves from utilising sexist gender stereotypes, because in their trans-inclusive conception of "man" == "a person who sees themself in the social gender contructs traditionally aligned to male people" and "woman" == "a person who sees themself in the social gender contructs traditionally aligned to female people", stereotypes are their reality.

DeanElderberry · 30/12/2024 13:27

Being a genderist means being totally committed to sexism. Sexism what the gender game is all about. No questioning or debate about women being 'feminine' and 'ladies'. I'm not sure what men have to be - 'masculine' and 'macho' probably.

If biological reality and the variations in tastes and habits of actual humans fail to conform to sexist fantasy, that is 'phobic'

'Ladies' is marginally less sexist than 'harpies', I suppose.

Although - tangent - Harpy eagles are fucking BOSS.

'The first written record of the harpy eagle is in Carl Linnaeus' 1758 Systema Naturae.
He describes the bird as the Vultur harpyja, named after the Greek mythological spirit the harpy, that had the body of an eagle and the face of a human.
This comparison is fitting, largely due to the harpy eagle’s facial disk.
The facial disk is composed of feathers that form a circle around the bird’s face, which they can lift or lower as they please. When the feathers of the facial disk are raised, they help direct sounds to the birds’ ears, which are located on the sides of its head.'

Well hello ladies. Samantha Tempest isn't involved with my requests in any way. I am who I say I am and I'm a cis woman, though I have to like someone a lot more than I like you before I send fanny pics. I'd love to stay and answer your other questions, but you have the power to answer them yourselves through the obscure art of "reading." Feel free to stage another solidarity campaign where you all wear the same colour while locked alone in your homes. Bye now!

Love the:

  • she her
  • Ladies
  • fanny pics
  • cis woman
  • assumption real women on here don’t live normal lives

Clearly a sane individual who really knows what it is to be an actual woman. ‘They’ will feel right at home on this fearless bastion of women’s rights.

Some of you may feel as disappointed as I do that there is neither a Fanny Craddock nor Leslie Phillips gif on here.

Igneococcus · 30/12/2024 13:46

Why do TRAs who come onto MN always sound like some minor character from an early 2000s US-based sitcom (one that was cancelled half way through the first season for being rubbish)?

Maybe you should go for AI gerbil spelling:
'Harpic of Moms not' or something, just to confuse the uninitiated.

<flaps wings>
<eyes horizon for victims>

(I could get quite into this.)

The FOI rules are really clear
internal bulletin board posts are outside the scope definitely

Is there a reference for this rule?
