Freedom of Information requests about SEEN and Mumsnet

Dozens of requests to various public sector bodies asking about SEEN Networks and MN posts made by employees.

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1hobn9b/seen_network/

"There's been discussion here previously of the Sex Equality and Equity Network (SEEN). I've been using Freedom of Information requests to investigate this group's activities, particularly in the Civil Service (where they seem to have originated), and thought people might be interested in what I've learned."

Seems that this requestor is on a mission to unmask heretics.

Maybe you should go for AI gerbil spelling:
'Harpic of Moms not' or something, just to confuse the uninitiated.

<flaps wings>
<eyes horizon for victims>

(I could get quite into this.)

Gerbils do take prude in their spilling skels

DeanElderberry · 30/12/2024 15:45

Those vowels sound more like the Quokkas.

TERFspice · 30/12/2024 15:47

Laura (I know you're reading this), I am a member of one of the civil service SEEN groups. The group has been a hugely valuable wealth of support and friendship to me since its inception. I've met some wonderful new colleagues and friends through it, and all whilst sticking up for women's rights too! Win win!

Honestly, I feel bad for you. You only get one short and precious life, and you're choosing to spend yours doing this? You're trying to stop people from building networks and helping women and children? Is that what you want out of life? Really? Why not try another hobby? One that brings you fulfillment and meaning?

@Hoardasurass
This one has the MN usernames:
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/mumsnet_posts_by_hmrc_employees#incoming-2767010
See her correspondence of 11 Sept 24.

We have, dear Vipers, also earned ourselves a new soubriquet - a true charmer on the Reddit thread has described us as 'the harpies of mumsnet [sic]' and linked to this thread <waves gaily>

A harpy is defined, aside from the mythical being, as 'a cruel, unpleasant woman who shouts a lot'
Gendered insult, much? At least whoever it is knows what a woman is really.

And something else to add to the menagerie of snakes and dinosaurs. .

It's not clear exactly what problem Laura has with posts like this for example:

"There isn't a Civil Service Woman's network any more. Because it wasn't compatible with gender ideology. And the presenter explained that he'd been shut out of the his branch of the LGBT+ network for saying he was same sex attracted. So I think there is a definite gap in the staff networks for anyone who believes sex is real, binary, immutable and important. There aren't any, other than SEEN who would ever represent me."

Does Laura not think that exclusively same sex attracted people deserve to have representation? Sounds a tad homophobic.

Anybody requesting an FOI on a particular Mumsnet posting name

(a) does not understand FOIs ; they cannot reveal personal data

(b) does not understand Mumsnet posting names - I used to change one letter in my name every month to make advanced search impossible

SensibleSigma · 30/12/2024 16:23

I’m adding ‘Harpies’ to my honourable soubriquets, ‘middle class woman of a certain age’ and ‘Bloody difficult woman’.

SensibleSigma · 30/12/2024 16:24

And as for being locked in alone at home- of for the chance. Since Covid and the normalisation of working from home, no one ever seems to leave the house except me. I can’t remember the last time I was home alone.

Don't forget 'rights-hoarding dinosaur' and member of the Prosecco Stormfront.

That last one really grates, actually. Prosecco is vile IMO.

SensibleSigma · 30/12/2024 16:31

Luckily I wear a large T-shirt and have room for them all across my ample bosom.

Some of you may feel as disappointed as I do that there is neither a Fanny Craddock nor Leslie Phillips gif on here.

It's outrageous and I wish to lodge a complaint.

Although I'm slightly mollified by finding Terry Thomas, who also did a magnificent 'Hello, ladies'.

BlackForestCake · 30/12/2024 16:54

Tallisker · 29/12/2024 19:02

I'm sure there will be another complaint about MN incoming any minute now.

Looks like some people don't have enough work to fill their days.

That's the problem we have – we are up against people who have plenty of time on their hands, because they are unemployable.

I also hate the stuff. 'Champagne Stormfront' sounds much better. That is a weather forecast I could get in front of, equipped with large buckets.

Gebril, shorely?

"Domesticated Zombies" was the other one

Are your pronouns Pingu / Hungover today?

Pin/Gu surely?

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 30/12/2024 17:38

Bloody hell some people really don't like women talking to each other do they?

Surely whatever your job, it's absolutely fine to post anonymously on mumsnet. I don't think any employment clause claiming otherwise would stand up in court. Employees aren't slaves, they're allowed their own personal opinions FFS.

It really is Stasi adjacent.

champagne just gives me flashbacks to working in a Mayfair strip club before the big financial crash.

Xmas Envy (not envy).

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 30/12/2024 17:42

It seems Laura Brown is self identifying as witchfinder general. Really disturbing stuff.

You probably know this, but just in case, Stormfront is a neo nazi group/site. "Prosecco Stormfront" is the progessive boys and girls' "clever" (ahem) way of simultaneously dismissing Mumsnet posters as frivolous women and slandering them as Nazis.

Just another clear demonstration that they have no idea what we are actually saying and why, just another of the stupid soundbites and self-congratulatory cliches they echo back to each other.

It's risible, but I avoid making jokes about this particular bit of dumbassitude as I have no doubt that would be maliciously or just stupidly weaponised as MN thinking it's funny to be called Nazis, rather than the truth that MN thinks people who are so stupid and/or uninformed they equate a bunch of women talking about why sex matters with Nazism are utter clowns.

FranticFrankie · 30/12/2024 17:48

Just wanted to wish you all a Harpy New Year- it being nearly 2025 and all that Grin

EdithStourton · 30/12/2024 17:50

@FlirtsWithRhinos fair enough.
I'm willing to joke about the idiots and their verbiage, though.
Just for clarity, I am no fan of Nazis, they did my wider family no favours during WWII.

Seriestwo · 30/12/2024 18:10

Bloody hell to all of this.

For avoidance of doubt, this MN thinks people who are so stupid and/or uninformed they equate a bunch of women talking about why sex matters with Nazism are utter clowns is exactly what I meant. Thanks Rhinos.

Merry Terfmas and a Harpy New Year to you, too!

WarriorN · 30/12/2024 19:29

I've only just read the thread and links - clearly a doxxing attempt but also clearly a really very stupid short sighted one as HMRC pointed out in their letter.

I think it's great - another example of exactly why SEENS are needed and indeed, how vexatious TRAs are.

Harpy new year!
