'As providers of gender affirming primary care, this is our response to the emergency action that criminalized the prescribing of Gonadotrophin Releasing Hormone analogues (GNRHa) to young transgender people below the age of 18 in certain circumstances.
We believe this is targeted discrimination towards transgender youth, as the same medications can and continue to be prescribed for young people who are not transgender.
We also believe in respect for bodily autonomy and the reproductive rights of all young people, and support an informed consent model of care .
The emergency legislation allows for an NHS provider to overtake a private prescription for this medication provided this was initiated prior to 3rd June 2024. This is something we have and will continue to do, since we believe that not all private providers are offering adequate care and monitoring to their patients, and some may no longer be able to provide ongoing prescriptions.'
Oh, okay, they state they will exploit this loophole. Hmm.
