Also a dwarf squirrel measuring 14cm (5.5in), a mouse with spines a bit like a hedgehog's [obvs a cousin of Banned], and a tiny arboreal opossum.

Talking of weird animals, did anybody see the carnivorous squirrel in today's papers?

And the ears and tail on the tiny opossum!

I didn't but just had a look - seems to be about Californian ground squirrels. Grey squirrels being omnivorous isn't news, they predated nests for eggs and nestlings, and according to the wiki pages other animals, small rodents and other squirrels included.

Where did you get those from Boily?

Those lamps are gorgeous! What are the bases like?

Living in deepest darkest Peru myself I suppose I can temporarily put the Peru lot up at mine. But if they are still here next Christmas I will have to start charging rent!

I was going to say 'what a clever family you have, Boily' and it occurred to me to google 'Beetle families' and I found out there are 4072 species in 103 families in these islands alone, I wonder are they all as clever as you and your sister?
It looks like the Donut family - the Jams, the Iceds, and of course the Dunkins - are pretty gifted too, Alison , love the cats!

Do you get amazing beetle shadows when the rest of the room is in the dark?

I wouldn't put anything past grey squirrels!
