BBC The World Tonight, 25/11. Second piece was on the Supreme Court appeal, For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers.

They had Susan Smith from For Women Scotland and Emily Chung from Out for Independence, the LGBTQ+.wing of the Scottish National Party. In answer to why FWS shouldn’t have concerns about who should access single sex spaces, Chung argued:

"The first [concern] is a practical matter, that they oppose it on the grounds of that they feel gender identity - gender recognition certificates rather - shouldn’t grant access to single sex spaces. The answer is that they don’t.

The second argument is again somewhat of a sad one, which is that there is a presumption in the For Women Scotland's argument that same sex, or single sex female spaces in particular, are free of physical and sexual violence, and sadly that’s simply not true. Sadly, biological women - cis women - can and do commit horrible acts of violence including sexual violence including rape on other biological cis women."

Presumably this is one reason why TRAs insist that the media use wrong-sex pronouns, including when reporting rape and assault cases. If you can show - or make it look - that women are (equally?) violent and commit rape and sexual assault just like men/TW, then there is no point in having single sex spaces, and no need for them.

They are mad as a box of frogs, and getting worse as the world begins to return to its senses.

AnnieSnap · 25/11/2024 23:37

🙄 I’m 65. Through my life so far, neither myself, or women friends have been sexually assaulted by another woman, but we have all been in some way, sexually assaulted by men. Most more than one, many several times.

No reach is too far for these people is it?

NPET · 25/11/2024 23:38

How ridiculous. I've never raped or been raped by a woman.

kittybiscuits · 25/11/2024 23:41

There are literally no limits to these ridiculous people and their made-up nonsense.

I'll be 65 in a few months. Same here. Sexually assaulted by boys and by men. Never by girls or women.

Strange.

Grammarnut · 25/11/2024 23:47

Women cannot commit rape in the UK. It requires a penis - attached to your body. Mad as a box of frogs? Mad as a whole container ship of frogs, I'd say.

🤔It's almost like there's a pattern.... Nope, no idea what it is...

unsync · 25/11/2024 23:49

Isn't the legal definition of rape, penetration with a penis? Biological women don't have those.

Crosspost with @Grammarnut It is completely batshit.

Can't figure it out at all.

There was a "woman" who attempted to rape a 10 yr old not that far away from here, but fortunately the girl - God bless her - managed to punch the newfangled, improved woman in the balls.

BobbyBiscuits · 25/11/2024 23:51

What are the statistics for woman upon woman rape, in the UK per year?
Would the police even record the bio sex of the rapist? Because nearly all public cases of rape perpetuated by a female recently seem to actually have been committed by a man.

Firealarm1414 · 25/11/2024 23:52

I've literally never once felt threatened or creeped out by another woman in a changing room or toilet, let alone been assaulted or raped by one. These people are living on a different planet to the rest of us

ANameChangePresents · 25/11/2024 23:57

Emily Chung has exposed herself as biologically and legally illiterate on national radio. The shameful thing is, that broadcasting house probably thinks she's advertised how wonderfully progressive she is, rather than how utterly idiotic.

WearyAuldWumman · 26/11/2024 00:00

The closest case I can think of is where a woman was accused of SA by deception: she had pretended to be a young man.

For some strange reason, she wasn't described in the media as a trans man.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/11/2024 00:04

The first [concern] is a practical matter, that they oppose it on the grounds of that they feel gender identity - gender recognition certificates rather - shouldn’t grant access to single sex spaces. The answer is that they don’t.

Yet Amnesty International thinks they do. The era of pulling this sleight of hand is over, Emily.

Yes it is, a penis that is physically attached to the body. And as of 2021 (I believe) it now also includes those who have had a surgically made penis (female to male transgender) irrespective of how they identify.

You’d think people would have legal definitions correct before stating this as an argument.

MarjorieDanvers · 26/11/2024 00:06

It is not possible for a (real) women to commit rape - lacking a penis is part of the problem!

no actual woman has ever been convicted of rape (though it is possible to aid and abet - very rare though!). I think she was thinking of women like Isla!

Yup.
Sexual Offences Act 2003 in England and the equivalent 2009 Act in Scotland. And guess what? Rape is s.1. Not hard to miss.
Note the language. He. His penis.
1Rape
(1)A person (A) commits an offence if—
(a)he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis...

Admittedly it starts off referring to a 'person' but sees sense and reverts to he, his penis.

OldCrone · 26/11/2024 00:15

Real (female) women have been convicted of rape when they have assisted a male rapist. Under joint enterprise they are convicted of the actual crime committed by the main offender.

DrBlackbird · 26/11/2024 00:15

If this is the best that they can come up with, that’s an abysmally weak argument. Pathetic even.

MarieDeGournay · 26/11/2024 00:28

In some jurisdictions, 'rape' includes penetration with an object, so technically a woman could be guilty of rape.
In July in Ireland a man was jailed for 9 years for rape involving an object, which is rape under Irish law.
'Cis' women 'raping each other' is a bizarre claim.

I have, you aren't speaking for all of us.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/11/2024 00:44

I understand that. But you do realise that sex crimes are overwhelmingly committed by men? On women?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/11/2024 00:46

This is whataboutery. Most sex crimes are MVAWG.

illinivich · 26/11/2024 00:50

Saying sexual assault happens in female only spaces doesn't help men with gender campaign to be in those spaces. The point has always been that its unsafe for them in the mens and safe in the womens.

"biological cis women" - the phrases they have to use to describe fanny havers is getting more convoluted by the day.
