Hazell Dean? There’s a blast from the past!

Oh dear that’s a shame never mind 🥱

You know, Chris, I haven't the time, energy or inclination to spend hours on trans-friendly websites advertising various court judgements in favour of GC women. I'd probably be shouted at and kicked off, with the usual tolerance shown by that side towards dissenting views.

You're obviously welcome to post here, but it does look a bit desperate. We won't campaign to get you kicked off, we'll just eye-roll.

Dinosaurs are VERY good at that
And yawn.
We're good at that, too.

ApocalipstickNow · 05/12/2024 20:04

I’m willing to never voluntarily listen to Hazel Dean again if it keeps Chris and Hazel happy.

And will Hazell be returning my purchase costs of whatever single it was that she released back in the day, that I paid for out of my female earnings? ....No, didn't think so. So she can piss off too.

Datun · 05/12/2024 20:35

Perhaps she should be asked if her songs can be a soundtrack to TRAs advocating to put make rapists in prison with female abuse victims?

That would be an enlightening question (that I bet she wouldn't answer).

ChaChaChooey · 05/12/2024 20:42

I’m fucking great in a Pop Quiz but even I had to Google Hazell.

Stock Aitken and Waterman guff, but not nearly as good as Kylie (or Sinitta).

Don’t worry Haze, us terves are… Better Off Without You Grin

SinnerBoy · 05/12/2024 21:16

I can't say I've ever heard of her. I was too busy watching L7, the Lunachicks and Rubella Ballet, in the 80s.

lcakethereforeIam · 05/12/2024 21:27

Thought for a sec. it was Hazel O'Connor. Never heard of Hazel Dean.

JanesLittleGirl · 05/12/2024 22:47

Is this a case of "Hazel, Hazel, who the fuck is Hazel?"

Abhannmor · 06/12/2024 09:39

Thought I was a pop trivia nerd. Not heard of Hazel Dean though.

Very much tempted to make a montage of Terf is a Slur screenshots to a Hazel Dean soundtrack.

Using the word 'community' to describe a group of people who share a singular characteristic is an abuser's tactic - forced teaming. I'm only part of a community if I choose to be part of a community. I refuse to be coerced into buying wholesale into a raft of beliefs and actions simply because I'm homosexual. The idea that there is an LGBT community is a joke. A terrible, terrible joke. I don't even ascribe to the idea of an LGB community, and I'm a member of my local LGBA group. We're just people, from all walks of life, who share a singular characteristic. We get together sometimes to have a chat and a pint. That's it.

HD is a lesbian which makes her approach even harder to comprehend.

L7 were properly brilliant live.

She's happy with her cognitive dissonance. Less risk of being cancelled as a "gay icon".

maltravers · 06/12/2024 20:57

I don’t think it’s that difficult. She’s trying to raise her profile/refresh her brand. Still wrong of course, but she may not see it if she’s long term settled.

CocoapuffPuff · 06/12/2024 21:42

She's probably blown the dust off her one hit wonder and is pondering having a wee go with a new generation. Hashtag moneytalks

The trans movement demands extra privileges for men (eg access to women’s spaces) and isn’t particularly harmful to men. The boundaries it pushes are women’s, and a lot of men like seeing women put down. So they have nothing to lose by toeing the genderist line.

Yes, this is what I have just come to realise. Just because some men don't want to have sex with women doesn't necessarily mean they don't hate women.

JS was, whether you all want to appreciate it or not, a groundbreaking lgbt artist and he's now a gay man is his 60s who has gone above and beyond for the community. It's also his voice on the song so if anyone gets to have a say, he does!

No, he was a GAY artist then whatever he may be now. Anyway it was actually cool to be a gay popstar then. Look at Tom Robinson.

There are entertainers who are more than just entertainers they're also explicitly political in their music and Bronski Beat are among them. I'm very disappointed that they (or some of them anyway) have decided to go down this route but they're allowed to share their views.

Some entertainers are know-nothings and just parroting what they've heard but that's not Bronski Beat. Same as, I'm sorry Margaret Atwood is TWAW but she is a political and feminist writer and not just someone who writes entertaining novels. (I sometimes try to guess which way Andrea Dworkin would have gone on TWAW and I can't.)

Anyway, LGBA have done nothing illegal. And the music is part of their gay past (they're my generation!) so whatever the members of Brokski Beat may think about it right now it's not appropriation either.

I think Andrea would definitely have been a terf. I hope so anyway.
