The really have lost the plot - how can anyone justify prioritising men with a fetish over the safeguarding of children?

EXCLUSIVE: Canadian Mother Was Told To Be More "Inclusive" After Complaining About A Male Wearing A "Child's Bikini" While Showering With Young Girls At Her Local Pool - Reduxx

The mother of a young girl in British Columbia, Canada, is speaking out after a man in a pink, sparkly bikini — adorned with sparkles, frills and princess tiaras — was found showering in the female changing room of her local public pool. After reportin...

Good for you. Not everyone is completely lacking in integrity. Stop suggesting I am.

I haven't said anything about your integrity, I don't know much about you, other than that you seem to think somehow that not supporting free speech for all is a sign of journalistic integrity. But maybe that's not what you mean?

And I would question the idea that journalistic integrity is actually incompatible with quite a lot of views that I don't particularly agree with or think are bad. Because they aren't about the view of the journalist as such, they are about having a certain kind of transparency and following the right kind of procedures around news reporting.

But the news platforms that are questionable at the moment are the ones we trusted back in the 90s. Do you have some specific examples of where Reduxx have been inappropriate in their journalism?

Sleepydoor · 22/11/2024 00:53

You haven't said anything about my integrity? Maybe not, but you are suggesting lots. Stop.

Your integrity isn't even relevant to the discussion, I'm not suggesting anything about it.

Did you have any specific criticisms of Reduxx's reporting?

NotBadConsidering · 22/11/2024 01:28

Yes, I’d like to see an example of an article that Reduxx have got wrong.

I would also like a better explanation of why we are supposed to dismiss the accuracy of an article based on association with someone that another someone doesn’t like or doesn’t agree with.

Great -- I am no longer part of this "discussion". Stop insulting me. Stop addressing me.

Anyone peddling conspiracy theories about immigrants and gay people in general are not pro-women.

I am a woman immigrant, and the number of policies I run up against that are exclusively designed to target and hurt women in immigration law alone are insane.

That’s not an example of a story they got wrong. It’s an opinion website offering their view of the overall site.

Can you link to a story they published that was incorrect?

The link I had contained one example in particular of a story that had zero proof.

coxesorangepippin · 22/11/2024 01:58

You may not be seeing reports about it, but it's there.
I'd suggest a site to look at if your brave enough? But you'll have to figure out which site by yourself. If you want

bit of a contradiction there matey

At the bottom.

Honestly, reduxx's editor has even been criticized heavily by gc's. Not every ally is worth allying with.

Happyinarcon · 22/11/2024 03:46

I also don’t believe this news story. Im starting to think a lot of the more outlandish stories are either completely fake or the footage is staged. It makes sense as to why the media would do this, reality is boring and not newsworthy

At the bottom where? Which article? Which story? If it’s there on the website you’ve linked you should be able to link the story itself. Even if you say “at the bottom” describe what you’re referring to, that would be helpful. Can you do that?

If i link directly to the archive, it's missing the context.

It's the last section of the site I linked.

I do not appreciate it when someone addresses me in an antagonistic or condescending manner. Please be respectful.

Sleepydoor · 21/11/2024 01:37

I haven't minimized women's concerns at all. I think the idea of this happening in Canada is batshit crazy. I know people who work at parks and rec and they take this kind of thing very seriously. They would remove the guy and call the cops. I think Reduxx is seriously suspect. That's just my opinion.

Maybe it's the people you hang with. I lived in BC too, where DH is from, and there was waaaaaay more crazy going around than this and it's got worse too I think. Had a huge fight with DH about the Vancouver rape crisis place a few years ago as his opinion was that trans people needed the space and "if a few people get beaten up that's just too bad." Translate it as "a few women get raped" and I sometimes wonder why the fuck I'm still with him though he has really changed his stances on this now. And he was pretty typical of his circle.

Aberentian · 22/11/2024 04:47

Not defending Reduxx cos I don't know anything about it but Canada has self-ID so why would anyone call the cops? This is what people believe there.

I am asking a simple question. Can you give an example of a story Reduxx has got wrong?

You say it’s in the last section of the site you link. But the last section of the site you linked is about ThePublica. So you need to provide clarity on what you are referring to. Just what the story is about would be a start.

If you find it antagonistic or condescending to be asked to back up your claim, perhaps your claim isn’t as robust as you think it is.

Self id isnt a free pass to behave like a creep. Peeking under stalls or making inappropriate comments/staring/touching w/out consent would be reason to call the law. I would not hesitate to call the police on anyone behaving in an inappropriate manner in a bathroom or changeroom, trans or not.

It is about ThePublic, run by the exact same person. They're sister sites. You can presume a lack of integrity from one infects the other, it's all from the same house.

It's your manner of request, not the fact that you are making a request, I take issue with. Stating a personal boundary is not a reflection of the robustness of my argument.

Aberentian · 22/11/2024 05:00

@PinkChesnut erm in the story that's actually being reported in the article, not the one posted further down, there was no peeking, touching etc so what grounds would the staff have had to call police? Do you not read very well?

I asked for an example of Reduxx getting a story wrong.

You replied to me, with a link to a website that has its own biases.

It doesn’t indicate any example of a story Reduxx has got wrong. The website you linked questions one article by someone other than Reduxx.

I have not been remotely antagonistic, condescending or infringed on any personal boundary. You are inferring this from my comments because I am making it clear in my posts that your attempt to provide an example of Reduxx getting a story wrong is a load of nonsense. You can’t back up your claim. Your argument is anything but robust. You don’t like someone, so you’ve inferred that everything that person has ever been in contact with is unreliable. It’s a poor argument overall.

We disagree. That's fine.

NotBadConsidering · 22/11/2024 05:12

Ok, maybe someone like Sleepydoor can provide an example, given the initial request was to them before your example petered out.

What I find fascinating is the repetitive need to pour scorn on the source of the reporting to try and undermine the veracity of the story, as if to try and obscure the fact a man was in the women’s changing rooms in a sparkly swim suit. Reduxx know people will do anything they can to stop this sort of thing coming to light.

Waitwhat23 · 22/11/2024 06:37

So, on this thread, the main arguments from the 'it didn't happen' posters are -

'It's too crazy to happen' (despite many just as batshit previous examples having been established)

'Reduxx = bad, RationalWiki = good for sources' (really? Bloody hell)

DM'ing other posters rather than discussing on thread (very poor form btw)

And accusing a poster who has asked questions in a perfectly polite way to be 'respectful'.

It's almost amusing to see the desperate scrabblings as this batshittery collapses worldwide.
