It's a careful statement isn't it - no doubt concealing their fury at the nerve of men demanding access to LLL. And yes, good for them to keep stating that babies are meant to be at the centre of this - not men's demands.

WarriorN · 16/11/2024 13:36

It's the AGM this morning.

There is likely to be something significant to come out of it - unfortunately I'm not sure good.

WarriorN · 16/11/2024 18:25

From what I understand, those women who've attempted to stand for the safeguarding of women and girls, including my own lactation consultant, have been overruled.

Gender zealots have gained control of the LLL GB council.

Grim. Thanks for the update.

I don't really know the ins and outs but I'm sure it will be reported soon.

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2024 20:20

Oh, shite.

Datun · 17/11/2024 06:52

Good article. I hope it's the first of many. And that the men's motivation gets discussed.

Alongside a spot of operation let them speak.

A man desperate to pretend to breastfeed a baby will incriminate himself in seconds.

We have leaders of countries scratching their heads as to why the birth rate is dropping.

I really do think that women and girls are turning off having relationships with men. Every way we turn there’s men abusing children, and bullying us to accommodate their sick fetishes.

If only we could discover another planet we could all move to and leave them to it.

My DD19 has dumped 2 lads because their 'Andrew tate streak' started to sneak out without them realising. She's so bloody switched on. I'll be amazed if she finds a man whom she's comfortable with and respects her. She's happier on her own/with girlfriends.

Projectme · 17/11/2024 08:09

Maybe women should start attending erectile dysfunction support groups. @Westofeasttoday

Can you just imagine!! 😳

Helleofabore · 17/11/2024 08:09

Thanks Ig. That shows a culture that seems to be rather toxic.

I realise now just how lucky I was to have my local NCT breastfeeding cafe. But looking at the NCT site now, in my skimming I see it has no mention of mothers. And indeed the breastfeeding cafes are now baby cafes for infant feeding.

When I was attending these I would have stopped if male people were there. Simply because while I had no problem breastfeeding in public, when someone was there helping me with latching etc it means there is specific attention being drawn to the person being helped. And I would not have felt comfortable having such a discussion in front of a male person at all.

This move seems to be counterintuitive to ensuring more people breastfeed. If mothers and fathers need advice on formula feeding surely this can be managed in a separate session? And does that fall into the NCT / LLL remit or not?

That’s sad, I was hoping the statement meant they’d found a way to stand against LLLI using UK charity law.

I left LLL several years ago, because they made it clear that they wouldn’t back a Leader who excluded a man who identified as a woman. The meeting I attended had always asked dads to wait outside, or to get advice after the meeting had finished if the woman wanted to do that with her partner present.

Peer supporters became infant feeding supporters while I was doing it.

The plan was to support mothers and families to feed however they were feeding - including mixed feeding and better ways to formula feed, including safety etc. Partly this was in response to many women saying they felt judged/excluded by a focus on breastfeeding.

Always hard to get the balance right. At base, these groups.are supposed to be about supporting mothers and babies.

Good to see that commentators are universally disgusted / furious and repelled. Even the normal useful idiots who appear to lecture everyone about transphobia are avoiding this article.

No it would be awful but it’s kinda the same idea? 😂

This is derailing but a nice story and on the BBC, mother and woman all over the place

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c93qv217d5lo

I don't know anything about the organisation behind it. I chose to believe they use 'woman' and 'mother' as any sane person would.

And I'm not going to worry about the sculpture becoming ground zero for weirdos.

How refreshing not to see a drag queen front and center in the photo! Someone must have been off sick the day BBC managed to write a piece about women with a photo of ... women! (I only looked at the cover photo to be fair.)

OnTheSafeSide · 17/11/2024 22:15

Helen Joyce (Sex Matters) was on LBC tonight about 8.40ish discussing the LLL debacle and males trying to breastfeed. Maybe finally mainstream media will start talking properly about this stuff, and the uninformed/head-in-the-sanders will start paying attention.

FannyCann · 18/11/2024 14:53

From the Times article linked:

"On one occasion, a leader opposed to our position said that they hoped all those who disagreed with their view on inclusion would “hurry up and die”."

Absolutely shocking behaviour from women who are meant to be kind and empathetic, caring for other women. In normal times and normal jobs this sort of behaviour would be a sacking offence.

That's telling and I have no doubt it was sincerely meant. We are basically being given two choices by these extremist TRA lunatics;

  1. Pander to misogynists. Put the desires of men who want to be women before the needs of women. Sacrifice our own children's health upon the altar of "progress."

  2. Die.

I'll die, thanks.

"On one occasion, a leader opposed to our position said that they hoped all those who disagreed with their view on inclusion would “hurry up and die”."

Why are so many of these numbskulls so completely vile? Why can't they just accept that not everyone agrees with them or believes what they do?

TWETMIRF · 19/11/2024 09:13

Because it's got nothing to do with genuinely feeling that they should be the opposite sex and everything to do with power and control.

Edited for typo
