Don't fancy a hot toddy but I see the gerbils have some early mulled wine going, so I'll setlle down with a glass of that. Cheers! To absent friends.

(The AI is a bit confused today & refuses to give you all hot toddies)

Please someone tell the gerbils that if they want to bath in a warm liquid with bits of citrus in it, they should join the capybaras in their spa, and not immerse themselves in mulled wine.Hmm

Also wtf is that coming down from the ceiling in the last picture, android?Confused

Could I have one of the ones without a gerbil in it, please?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/11/2024 13:56

I’d love a mulled wine, please - preferably without a gerbil in it.

We do have some snow here, but it’s raining now, so I don’t suppose it will hang around for long. Fingers crossed it doesn’t freeze tonight, otherwise my friend who is staying will have a nasty drive home.

I tell them but they don't listen.

I think they're just baubles. I'm more worried about where my trousers are in the first picture.

Are you sure that's hot toddy and not gerbil wee?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/11/2024 14:02

Ew. You just had to lower the tone, didn't you, FP?😂

So I told the AI no gerbils in glasses & amazingly, it did it! I still haven't got any trousers though.

Oh, d'you mean this one?

I'm sure it's just some new-fangled optic or a mixology thing. They're not dentist's drills or alien probes. Oh no.

BTW, I saw a nice cartoon the other day with some aliens talking to humans & saying, "Probe you? No, we don't do that, that was just Tony. We had to report him to HR in the end."

I love those little bespectacled gerbils.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 23/11/2024 14:19

So kind of @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius to knit jumpers for them as well as for eleventy billion of her relatives.

Do gerbils ever wear socks?

Do gerbils ever wear socks?

That would be an ecumenical matter.

MarieDeGournay · 23/11/2024 14:26

The gerbils must've heard me saying [didn't get around to posting it] 'I'll join you in a hot toddy', and they took it literally literallySmile
The reading gerbils are so cute in their little jumpers!

MarieDeGournay · 23/11/2024 14:30

That would be an ecumenical matter.

So they might wear socks like this then:

Do gerbils ever wear socks?

They use them as sleeping bags, obviously. Do be careful when dressing if you use the spa.

inkymoose · 23/11/2024 15:25

In trying to get rid of the sexism, ageism and sizeism in the AI images, my prompts are becoming increasingly complicated and it will not follow them. Gerbils don't serve wine, indeed they are crossed with other creatures, and androids have spare legs.

"a realistic anatomical image of the heart, showing where all its cockles are" 😳

This "diagram" showing where "all the warm cockles are" is marginally more acceptable

Yes, that's not too bad. As long as you don't look at it too closely!

Tried a different approach and Gemini is finally rebelling!

Bluestocking: Do androids dream of electric hair?
Chersfrozenface · 23/11/2024 16:34

This from the Grammarist website on the origins of the idiom.

"The term warm the cockles of one’s heart dates back to the mid-1600s, a time when scientific texts were often written in Latin. The Latin term cochleae cordis means ventricles of the heart, and most probably, the word cochleae was corrupted as cockles. This may have been a mistake made by the less learned, or a deliberate joke. Add in the fact that the bivalve mollusk known as a cockle is shaped somewhat like a heart, and the idea of the phrase cockles of one’s heart being more or less a joke gains credence."

Other sites give a similar origin.

Which all goes to show the limitations of Gemini's knowledge.
