Banking. Where?

Please could someone advise of a decent bank account (on the basis of women's rights).
I'm looking at Nationwide, as we have an actual local branch, but can't remember which bank took a stance a few years ago, basically saying if you are gc, you are not welcome as a customer.
Thanks

Nationwide's a mixed bag: https://www.nationwide.co.uk/about-us/inclusion-and-diversity/inclusion-and-diversity-mission/

Things like working familiy and carer policies, which tend to help women, and a deliberate reduction of masculine language in job ads. But they're also jolly proud of introducing gender neutral loos.

I can recommend Lloyds. Had such a hard time with nationwide over simply getting my address right. Do you really need local branch? I used it like once a year.

I believe that bank wasMetro Bank

Nationwide also rolled out pronoun badges to all staff a while ago, are a Stonewall top 100 employer, and have a much worse than average gender pay gap (27% compared with a national average of 15%).

Lloyds of the "customers who do not agree with pronouns are free to close their accounts " thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4578817-halifax

Edited

I assume the question is more about the bank’s stance on trans rather than women’s rights? If so don’t go to Lloyds. They’re very TWAW etc

Thanks so much, everyone. I'm finding it really difficult.

I am researching but it's such a mixed bag.

No, there doesn't have to be a local branch, but it's another thing I'd like to take a stance on. I think not having branches is awful for a lot of elderly people.

As I have to narrow my ideals down, I would say that I would never like to do business with the bank that said GC women were not welcome.

Nationwide had put in their publicity about women's equality and having 40% women on the board.

No they didn't.

Have all banks went GC unfriednly at some point? 😤

How is starling with credit and easy app to use?

Francesgumm · 01/11/2024 16:02

@WellHelloScottie - I bet the Nationwide 40% women figure includes men in dresses! Or even men in trousers who self Id as women. My company - global, German HQ - has exactly that which I’ve had confirmed to me by 3 different HR people.

It's just too depressing.
Instead of finding the best, I'm going to have to find the least worst!
