Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Quite the last line reveal in that Oxford Mail report. Honestly, what a disgrace.

Snowypeaks · 16/10/2024 13:48

"Omoruyi was arrested and had intimate swabs taken. The prosecuting barrister told the jury that the swabs revealed the defendant is biologically male."

So male paedophile attacks young boy. Sick of this.

Poor child.

spannasaurus · 16/10/2024 13:53

The PCC statement was made in February this year saying that Omoruyi should not have been described as a woman yet the newspaper report today describes him as a woman throughout until the very last line. FFS.

duc748 · 16/10/2024 14:14

Suppose that's two cheers for the PCC. But will his remarks have any effect? The Oxford Mail needs to print a correction.

EdithStourton · 16/10/2024 14:40

Yet again, I am so sick of this shit.
Every time something like this happens, I'm pushed that bit further from being willing to accept any sort of compromise.

I've gone from, 'Some of these transwomen are genuine and need our compassion' to 'A handful of these people have issues that need treating with compassion - especially the younger ones - but the rest of them CAN JUST FUCK OFF.'

Stop smearing women with male crimes.
Stop intruding on our private spaces.
Stop fucking up our sports at ALL levels.
Stop endangering real women in the prison estate.
Just STOP taking the fucking piss. And then there will be a lot more sympathy and compassion for the poor sods who really need it, rather than just a population of women that is done with this shit.

<and breathe>

Omoruyi was arrested and had intimate swabs taken. The prosecuting barrister told the jury that the swabs revealed the defendant is biologically male.

This is a male criminal. The sex type that commits 98% of violent crimes. The type that according to a Swedish survey retains male pattern offending even as transsexuals.

City of Oxford University do not use language to describe a woman.

Hoppinggreen · 16/10/2024 14:54

Poor child
I doubt it was the swabs that gave away the perpetrators sex though

ScrollingLeaves · 16/10/2024 14:58

I just read this you posted too @Justme56
instead of just the Oxford Mail.

Well done to Matthew Barber the Crime and Police Commissioner for telling the truth and stating that it matters - instead of defending the police effectively lying in crime reports and statistics.

What a brave man. Maybe this foul practice of recording mens’ crimes as women’s’ will finally be stopped ( unless the heinous GRCs that ought to be repealed make that illegal).

“In a free society we are, and should be, able to live our lives at liberty to describe ourselves however we like – providing it doesn’t affect other people. In cases of serious sexual offending when public protection is at stake the vast majority of people will rightly expect the criminal justice system to deal in facts and nothing more.

“The accused in this case, Osareen Omoruyi, is a 51 year old male.”

Bravo Matthew Barber Police Commissioner Thames Valley.

NPET · 16/10/2024 15:04

That is an APPALLING bit of reporting.
All the way thru you're supposed to be thinking "omg, can women be as bad as men" (tho I did begin having my doubts), then you suddenly learn it was a man all along.
I suppose the Oxford Mail would say it was a good report because it made you think one thing before swiping the rug from beneath your feet. But that isn't what news reporting should be like.

Good for Matthew Barber.

Oxford Mail, sort yourself out. This is offensive to the victim and to women. It's offensive to bloody everyone, actually.

Buffypaws · 16/10/2024 15:35

I think we all saw the big twist coming rather a long way off.

What’s the point in changing the most crucial piece of information in a news story right at the end of an article thereby contradicting your own headline? What a farce.

duc748 · 16/10/2024 16:29

I'm sure there are stats on what proportion of readers bother to read right to the end of a piece....

Timefordrama · 16/10/2024 16:44

Matthew Barber is my PCC. I've emailed him asking if he is able to call it out again.

Datun · 16/10/2024 16:49

The boy believed it was a family friend so obliged but soon realised he did not recognise her.

Christ. Did the kid think the man was a woman originally? Until he was closer?

AnyFucker · 16/10/2024 16:56

I knew what this would be before I read the first line

Exactly.

CoralReader · 16/10/2024 17:06

My hopes and wishes go to the boy

PattiSmithsPattis · 16/10/2024 17:21

Thank you @Justme56 , I hadn't read this before today.
That poor kid. Horrific attack, no wonder he was terrified. Then having to give evidence too 😞
The headline has fucked me off so much I emailed the editor of the rag that printed the lie, then contradicting their 'grabbing ' headline at the bottom. I even managed not to swear, go me 🤣🤣

Is the paper signed up to IPSO?

If so use the complaint system

We consider complaints about the newspapers, magazines and digital news sites which are signed up to IPSO regulation
