NHS Fife tries to silence nurse

Hoardasurass · 13/10/2024 09:36

So as has been mentioned on threads about the Darlington nurses a nurse is sueing NHS Fife over its trans staff policy.
The poor nurse was forced to get changed infront of a man in the female changing facilities, when she complained about it she was 1st told to change in a cupboard if she didn't like it, then they tried to bully her into swapping shifts so she didn't work with the man in question (she wouldn't), then they wanted her to move hospital (again she refused) so then they suspended her without pay for months until her solicitor got involved and now they are trying to gag her by insisting that the court case (starts in February) must be held in secret (I wonder why) and will be in crt next month asking to restrict reporting on the case.

This case is really important in Scotland because the trans staff policy that's going on trial in this case is the Scottish government's own policy used in all public sector organisations in Scotland and works on self id. So when this case is won it will finally kill the Scottish government's self id policy in all public bodies

Well it's all about trying to prove that unconsenting women can be used by the NHS as resources for any man who fancies crossing women's boundaries and making them uncomfortable or scared. There seem to be some people very invested in this stripping of human rights from women within the NHS and willing to throw a lot of resources at it.

It's so abusive to women. Funny how Dr Upton gets to choose who he undresses in front of but the women don't.

@Boiledbeetle Oh thanks thats great i have been struggling on nitter (as i am a tech nit)

Apologies if this has already been posted but here is the BBC article about it.

Interesting choice of language throughout. I can't make up my mind if this is a good thing or bad.

BBC News - Changing room trans row nurse 'felt intimidated'

Sandie Peggie, a woman with shoulder-length blonde hair, smiles at the camera while sitting on a couch. She is wearing a black top.

Did anyone catch the Reporting Scotland bit on this?

Is it just my eyesight or was the reporter wearing an interesting coloured scarf?

Two scarves intertwined to get the effect...

Reading the whole threadreader really makes you realise what a Star Chamber it is. What a grim experience for SP. Who'd want to pt themselves through that? Only the very most determined.

Tootsweets23 · 03/02/2025 17:48

I haven't read all the messages but remain astounded that this case is happening when instead it should have been a charge of indecent exposure.

Hmm. So a subtle signalling of support for the TRAs?

Peregrina · 03/02/2025 18:07

Hmm. So a subtle signalling of support for the TRAs?

Which will be completely wasted on a lot of us.

Having read the tribunal tweets from start to finish I have to say it all sounds depressingly similar to just about every other case over the past few years.

Man wants to walk roughshod over women's rights ... Fine knock yourself out mate.

Woman wants her rights upheld... You awful woman you shall be shunned and exiled.

Peregrina · 03/02/2025 18:15

Where are the tribunal tweets. I can't find them.

Boiledbeetle · 03/02/2025 18:16

Or if you can access Twitter, you can go directly to the tweets:

It's just so ridiculous. An actual doctor. You really couldn't make it up.

seXX · 03/02/2025 18:41

Has the timetable been shared? Do we know when each witness is likely to be called?

chilling19 · 03/02/2025 18:45

Managed to ge5 a log in - what time does it start tomorrow?

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 03/02/2025 18:45

10:00.

chilling19 · 03/02/2025 18:45

Thank you

Isn't it? With the sainted NHS presiding over the intimidation and punishment of a woman member of staff who simply wants to undress away from the male gaze.

The segment was also noticed over on reddit.

It seems that directly quoting (which was emphasised by the reported) what was said in court has left one person 'literally shaking and in tears'.

It is good that when it comes to court reporting they have extra requirements for accuracy.

BananaAppleOrange · 03/02/2025 18:54

Shaking with rage, no doubt, that they are no getting their way.

I don't believe so. It's difficult as things move around as the questioning of witnesses may take longer or shorter than predicted.

If it's the same as in England, others called for the claimant will go and then its over to the defence and their witnesses.

I think we will probably get through the rest of Russell's cross examination tomorrow.

JazzyJelly · 03/02/2025 19:02

Blimey, that Reddit thread is something! Referring to Dr Upton as 'the medic' is 'a sneaky way of misgendering her (sic)' apparently.

Even neutral terms aren't good enough, bow before the bullshit or be labelled a bigot.

GCITC · 03/02/2025 19:08

Heres another discussing the BBC article (which is showing on the main page for me! Normally it's buried.)
