I find myself saying this but have come back to feminism so i would like to explore my thinking with you all.

You say you have 'come back to feminism'. Why did you leave, and why have you returned?

And what part of your thinking would you like to explore.

Honest questions aa a Marxist where do you stand on womens rights vs womens expected responsibilities towards men/husbands, between raising children to their responsibilities towards the state, the disabled and "trans identities"
I ask because I've seen lots of not nesscarilly what I'd call Gc but certainly anti trans retoric from local Marxist/socialist groups but various versions of anti women and anti disabilities bs from local "socialist" groups near me and I'm wondering if it's just a local issue or more of an issue with Marxism.

When you say you’ve come back to feminism, is that feminism from a Marxist perspective whereby men (and Capitalism) view and exploit women as a means of reproduction? Or is your viewpoint more RadFem leaning?

Do you feel that in The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State, specifically Engels's interpretive statement on Marx's notes that

Along with [the classes] the state will inevitably fall. Society, which will reorganise production on the basis of a free and equal association of the producers, will put the whole machinery of state where it will then belong: into the museum of antiquity, by the side of the spinning-wheel and the bronze axe

that this was an argument for an eradication of gendered roles?

I suspect i have changed my mind about some things not others so wanted to explore if i really still am a Marxist thinker.

Everybody around me find politics boring so. Or maybe me😁

I am in my 60’s have adult children and grandchildren.

As regards selling socialist worker, I sold them in the 80’s a few a week. Never did sell loads, except in the miners strike.

I first described myself as a feminist, and subscribed to Spare Rib but the collective fell apart and there was a lot of in fighting, so I became disillusioned and stepped away.

I was a trade unionist too.

i believe women are oppressed by men, and that men do benefit from said oppression.

i don’t hang out with Marxists, and they don't necessarily agree with each other.

i believe some Marxists believe that the whole GI movement is a distraction from real issues for working class people. Which I agree with.

I personally think GI is a load of nonsense.

Marx running mate Engles wrote about the origin of women’s oppression.

After the era of foraging, he suggested that when humans became farmers labour became unequally divided. So women who were constantly pregnant and caring for children, were seen as less important to the production of food.

the males became interested in who their children might be for the purpose of land inheritance.

Modern Marxists disagree about this.

i think in an ideal world women and men could be equal all ways.

in the world we live in this notion of equality bites us in the bum all the time.

we still carry the burden of household stuff and child rearing and are expected to work as well

look at what happens in family courts for example where men are deemed as equal parents but that’s not true in real life.

My terfy friend has a special mime for indicating that someone nearby is best avoided, it’s a bit like the ‘wanker’ hand gesture or the ‘bellend’ hand-to-head gesture but it’s specifically for lefty woke-blokes…
