It takes longer to cool down than to fire so I'll let you know tomorrow. I am quite excited about getting it out as well as the red clay breakfast set I made.

I would not have the necessary patience be a potter!

Octoberaddsagale · 24/10/2024 19:48

The Archers continued: I wasn’t wrong. Brian said “Best performing lady”
Ruth (?) corrected him to “Female farmer”

Either way, Neil won the Ladies Cup. Gracefully.

Magpiecomplex · 24/10/2024 19:51

@ErrolTheDragon I was adopting a "destruction testing" approach to the question!

I still remember Nigel Pargetter falling off his roof. :(

As do I. Nigel and his ice cream van.

Edit - but the ice cream van didn’t fall off the roof.

Although it did produce a rather good picture!

I don't need AI recipes I just use my favourite cook book

I get complaints if I ask for books like that as presents. Apparently it makes the purchaser look like some sort of psycho? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Boiledbeetle · 24/10/2024 19:58

Mmmmm..

From co pilot

"Feline Feast Frittata 🍳

Ingredients:

4 eggs

1/4 cup of cat kibble (for texture!)

1/2 cup whipped cream

1/2 cup peas

1/4 cup pumpkin seeds (toasted)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a bowl, beat the eggs and stir in the whipped cream until well mixed.

Crush the cat kibble slightly (not too much—keep the texture!) and mix it into the egg mixture.

Stir in the peas and toasted pumpkin seeds.

Pour the mixture into an ovenproof dish.

Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the frittata is set and golden on top.

Let it cool slightly before serving.

@AlisonDonut cannot wait to see your efforts.

Magpiecomplex · 24/10/2024 20:00

What have I started?!

lcakethereforeIam · 24/10/2024 20:02

I love that it specified the pumpkin seeds needed to be toasted! Otherwise, I suppose, the recipe would be ruined.

Bannedontherun · 24/10/2024 20:02

PST…..top secret this Alice in the Archers is my step niece.

I am the person who gets presents like that regardless of whether I asked for them or not!!!!

Although I once made someone go to whsmith and buy me a Bros single for Christmas! (I think it was when will I be famous, but I'm not about to go sit and try and find out in my vinyl collection)

Magpiecomplex · 24/10/2024 20:09

Bros, Boily?! The shame! 😂
Although I do have a solitary Take That CD on the shelf, so I have no claim to the moral high ground.

Boiledbeetle · 24/10/2024 19:38

I would not have the necessary patience be a potter!

Tell me about it!

The first time I fired my own kiln, I got up at 6 to go see if I could look at my pieces, I burnt an oven glove just removing one of the kiln plugs, and one of the cats followed me in there and I was panicking that he would jump onto the kiln and burn himself. So I have to wait until I know the kiln is cool enough to be cat friendly.

And by that point you've already made half the stuff a good 3-4 weeks ago and waited for it to get bone dry to be able to be fired in the first place.

It is very grounding and makes you slow the fuck down.

Take That are the bees knees. I went (with DH) to see them this summer. They really know how to put on a show.

I wasn't even a Bros fan!!! I just wanted to cause maximum embarrassment to the buyer!!

Magpiecomplex · 24/10/2024 20:39

@Boiledbeetle 😂😂😂😂👍

Boiledbeetle · 24/10/2024 20:49

My vinyl is like some magical mystery tour through some very weird albums and singles! It's got everything!

Some highlights

Father Abraham in Smurfland,
those awful Top of the Pops albums from the 70s,
Alvin Stardusts I feel like...
The very first Now that's what I call Music
Beethoven's fifth on an old 78!

If the world was to end tomorrow and only my vinyl survived in the whole world future generations would be very confused!

(I will admit the Gary glitter singles are stored in a box under the stairs! Never to see the light of day again!)

Magpiecomplex · 24/10/2024 20:54

I believe the word is "eclectic", Boily! Mine is mostly classical, with the aforementioned Take That single and a couple of other weirdies for the confusion value.

Chersfrozenface · 24/10/2024 21:03

The first two albums I ever bought (second hand and on vinyl) were by James Taylor and Black Sabbath.

Does that count as eclectic?

larklane17 · 24/10/2024 21:13

I see you and raise you with:
Max Bygraves I'm a Pink Toothbrush/The Persian Kitten on 78
Christine and The Queens Paranoia
Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band Classics😎

Bannedontherun · 24/10/2024 21:20

Modern music is all mucked about with to make sure everyone hits the 'correct' pitch so it can fuck off.
