To get rid of Magpie's marking. I'm helpful like that. Also, the gerbils made me do it.

Heeyyyy! I'll have a mug of that... er....^chorfe!

Well done if you got the Babycham ad ref😄

Magpiecomplex · 18/10/2024 18:19

I assume it's my marking!

Fair enough!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 18/10/2024 18:23

I believe you mean:

Hey, I'd love a chorfe.

It's cosy here in Pedantry Corner. The video's on YT.

lcakethereforeIam · 18/10/2024 18:26

Why is there a pencil sticking in the chorfe mug?

Would a hot mug of chorfe go with a sparp toastie, d'you think?

FuzzyPuffling · 18/10/2024 18:35

Can you get vegetarian sparp?

lcakethereforeIam · 18/10/2024 18:37

I'd not given that any thought but, this being the Bluestocking, yes and vegan and gluten free.

Oh fair enough so Ted.Smile
I sit corrected. I was 100% dependent on my memory, which didn't do too badly.

lcakethereforeIam · 18/10/2024 19:42

On the subject of sparp, I think I ought to mention, the pigs won't touch it.

inkymoose · 18/10/2024 19:45

Vegetarian sparp toastie with hot chorfe ... I wouldn't try to eat the first one.
Tried to get copilot to add a tunnnocks tea cake, but instead, there are some kind of wrapped chocolate sweets inside the sparp toastie 🤔

The pigs are very wise.

I don't think the sparp is vegan...

Do you remember the airline food at the start of 2001? The plates of assorted, different coloured pastes? I think Copilot has been taking inspiration from that, looking at the first of Inky's pictures.

lcakethereforeIam · 18/10/2024 20:11

I think <clutches pearls> co-pilot is expecting that the first one will be eaten with a cake fork!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 18/10/2024 20:14

Just saying (since someone used it on an FWR thread the other day).

Have you come across The Horologicon? Fascinating book - I now frequently comment on the need to poon tables.

No, but now I want it! What does 'poon' mean please?

Magpiecomplex · 18/10/2024 21:17

Propping up a wobbly table by putting something under one leg. Very useful word!

lcakethereforeIam · 18/10/2024 21:25

So, it's a verb? Do the disparate objects used to poon have a name? For example I used a folded beer map as a ........... to poon the table.

So 'sparple' is mediaeval for 'ooh, squirrel' then?

It is a verb, but since when have speakers of English resisted the temptation to turn verbs into nouns as well?

lcakethereforeIam · 18/10/2024 21:48

That would be a never.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2024 21:52

According to Collins poon is also a type of wood or an Australian 'foolish or ineffectual person' .
"Can't yer poon that wonky poon table, yer poon?!"

Meanwhile, DH has gone out into the rainy night to pick up DD from the station, home for a long weekend. We have a nice chunk of fatted calf (ok, sirloin roasting joint yum) in the fridge for tomorrow even though she's not remotely prodigal.Smile
